Rheinzabern - In the Footsteps of the Romans & Bad Bergzabern

Visit to the Terra Sigillata Museum

Experience a varied day full of history, culture, and enjoyment in the southern Palatinate town of Rheinzabern. This small place has an impressive Roman past and was once one of the most significant centers of ceramic production north of the Alps. After your arrival, you will visit the Terra Sigillata Museum, which offers fascinating insights into the world of Roman pottery. During a guided tour, you will learn interesting facts about the production of the famous red tableware, which was exported from Rheinzabern to wide parts of the Roman Empire. Afterwards, you will visit the historical kilns, which impressively demonstrate the techniques the Romans used to produce their ceramic goods nearly 2,000 years ago. Then, you will head to the country inn "Goldenes Lamm" and indulge in culinary delights. Enjoy regional specialties at a shared buffet. In the afternoon, continue to Bad Bergzabern. There will still be time for leisure and the opportunity for coffee and cake before you begin your journey home.
