The second: You pay significantly more for the same room than a couple. On a bus trip, both points turn out differently than many expect. Because the group is there from the very first minute, and when it comes to room prices, a closer look is worthwhile.
You board in Lautzenhausen, Mainz-Bretzenheim, or Wiesbaden-Delkenheim and are immediately among people who have the same destination. A few hours pass until you reach the hotel, during which conversations almost always arise. Those who prefer their peace can read or look out the window. Both are perfectly fine.
On-site, a tour guide accompanies the group on many multi-day trips. They explain the itinerary, collect participants before excursions, and are the point of contact if anything is unclear. This takes the burden of organization off solo travelers, which would otherwise begin in the hotel room in the evening.
The third point is often underestimated: You don’t have to drive. No nighttime highways, no searching for parking in a foreign city, no transferring with luggage on a drafty platform.

A single room is a room that the hotel designates as such. It is often slightly smaller.
A double room for single use is a standard double room that you occupy alone. More space, usually also a higher price.
An example from our program makes the difference tangible. For the trip 'Relaxation in Bad Füssing' with seven nights, the Classic double room costs €1,349 per person. The Classic single room also costs €1,349. The Classic double room for single use is priced at €1,433.
A supplement is therefore not a penalty fee for solo travelers. It arises because the hotel can only charge for a room once instead of twice. Depending on the hotel and season, it varies, and for some trips, it is completely waived.
Our tip: Compare the listed room categories for each trip before committing to a price. Ask at the travel agency if there are actual single rooms available for your desired date. These are usually limited and booked early, so it pays to book in advance.
For multi-day bus, ship, and flight trips, there are free pickups in Lautzenhausen (BOHR Island), Wiesbaden-Delkenheim, Rheinböllen, Simmern, Emmelshausen-Dörth, Bingen, and Mainz-Bretzenheim. For an additional fee of €25 per person, locations such as Koblenz-Metternich, Trier, Bad Kreuznach, Idar-Oberstein, and Alzey are also included.
If you do not want to ask anyone to drive you to the bus, home collection is the simplest solution. It costs €50 per person for a round trip and applies to all multi-day bus, ship, and flight trips. Excluded are cycling trips and two-day bus trips. The service can be booked up to seven days before departure in the postal code areas 54, 55, 60, 61, and 65. The driver will assist you with your suitcase from your doorstep.
Seats are assigned based on the time of registration. Those who book early have a better selection. There is no entitlement to a specific seat, as the seating arrangement may change due to a change in bus type. If you feel more comfortable at the front, for example, due to the view, please mention this when booking.
If you are traveling alone with a group for the first time, choose a location trip. You stay in the same hotel the entire time, unpack once, and after two days, you know the faces at the breakfast table. Relaxation stays in spa towns or a week at the Baltic Sea are ideal for this.
Round trips with frequent hotel changes are appealing but more restless. It's better to save those for your second or third trip.
Also practical: On multi-day trips, you can take one piece of luggage up to 20 kilograms, plus hand luggage up to 7 kilograms. That is sufficient for a week without having to carry heavy loads.
