Travel Itinerary

Day 1 | Nuremberg – Arrival Altmühltal

Departure in the morning and drive to Nuremberg. High above the city stands the landmark – the Imperial Castle. At its feet, small alleys with half-timbered houses and impressive churches harmoniously blend with contemporary art and vibrant city life. During a guided tour of the old town, you will learn interesting and amusing facts about the castle and fountains, churches and art, as well as the history and present of the city. Afterwards, you have the opportunity for an individual stroll through the Easter market. As a typical goods and merchant market, it is also referred to as the “Häferlesmarkt.” Around the beautiful fountain, there is also plenty of food and drink available. In the afternoon, the journey continues to Titting-Emsing in the Altmühltal. You will be warmly welcomed with a welcome schnapps. Dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2 | Regensburg

After breakfast, you will take an excursion to Regensburg. Once a flourishing trading metropolis and political center of the Holy Roman Empire, Regensburg is now considered the best-preserved medieval city in Germany. Since 2006, Regensburg has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site. During a guided tour, you will see all the important sights and immerse yourself in the various epochs of time. The rest of the afternoon is at your leisure in Regensburg. You will return to your hotel for dinner.

Day 3 | Easter Fountains in Altmühltal –
Easter Market

Today, you will take a short tour through the Altmühltal and visit Easter-decorated fountains. First, admire the Kipfenberg Easter Fountain, one of the most beautiful in the region. Since 1998, a “crown” has been erected in the marketplace, adorned with freshly bound garlands. Over 2,000 painted eggs are attached to the garlands. Several Easter fountains can be found afterwards in the baroque bishop's, university, and residence city of Eichstätt. Back at the hotel, you can visit the spring and Easter market in and around the hotel. Dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4 | Kelheim and Weltenburg Monastery

Enjoy breakfast with white sausages and pretzels. Afterwards, the journey takes you to Kelheim. Here, it’s “anchors aweigh” for a boat trip through the Danube Gorge to Weltenburg Monastery. As early as 1840, King Ludwig I declared the Danube Gorge the first nature reserve in Bavaria. Weltenburg Monastery is located right at the entrance of the legendary Danube Gorge. It was founded around the year 600 by the Irish-Scottish Columban wandering monks Eustasius and Agilus from Luxeuil (Burgundy), making it the oldest monastic settlement in Bavaria. You will have time and opportunity for individual exploration. Back at the hotel, we invite you to coffee and cake. Dinner and overnight stay.

Day 5 | Rothenburg ob der Tauber – Return Journey

Today, you will begin your journey home. The last stop is Rothenburg ob der Tauber. Rothenburg ob der Tauber is unique. Like hardly any other German city, it has preserved the romantic flair of the late Middle Ages and the Renaissance. You will have time for an individual city stroll or a lunch break. With many beautiful impressions in your travel luggage, you will start your journey home in the afternoon.
