Travel Features

Itinerary

Day 1 | Arrival in Passau – Embarkation

Bus journey to Passau and embarkation. In the evening, it’s time to "cast off". The cruise takes you downstream from Passau through a varied river landscape with wooded banks, small towns, and calm sections of the Danube. While you pass through the "Schlögener Schlinge", you will be welcomed by the cruise director.

Day 2 | Emmersdorf – Vienna

In the morning, you will visit the Benedictine Abbey of Melk, one of the most famous monasteries in the world and the largest monastery complex of Austrian Baroque. The Abbey of Melk was built between 1702 and 1736. Noteworthy are the abbey church with frescoes by Johann Michael Rottmayr and the impressive library with its countless medieval manuscripts and frescoes by Paul Troger. During a guided tour, you will see the rooms of the prelature, the emperor's corridor, the marble hall, and the library. Before lunch, you will return to the ship, which continues its journey to Vienna.

Day 3 | Vienna

For centuries, Vienna was the imperial capital and residence of the Habsburgs and developed into a cultural and political center of Europe during this time. You will drive along the famous Ringstrasse, passing various magnificent buildings such as the State Opera, the Parliament, and the Burgtheater. You will also pass Vienna's impressive City Hall. During a subsequent walk through the city center, you will get to know Vienna properly. You will stroll through the famous Hofburg, the former imperial residence, along Kohlmarkt and Graben to the city's landmark, St. Stephen's Cathedral. Afterwards, there will be time for a stroll through the pedestrian zone. After departing in the evening, the ship leaves the metropolis and sails through the vast floodplains of the Danube-Auen National Park towards Budapest.

Day 4 | Budapest – Hungarian Horse Tradition

In the morning, enjoy the impressive section as the ship approaches the stunning skyline of Budapest. From the ship, spectacular views of the Parliament, Buda Castle, the Fisherman's Bastion, and the famous Danube bridges unfold. Budapest has preserved its unique charm through extensive and loving restorations in recent years. From here, a trip takes you to a typical "Csárda" (farmstead) near Budapest. Experience an unforgettable performance of Hungarian equestrian art and marvel at the fascinating connection between horse and rider. If you have always wanted to ride in a horse-drawn carriage, you will have the opportunity to do so after the performance. To conclude, enjoy a glass of wine and salty snacks before the bus takes you back to the ship.

Day 5 | Budapest

Budapest, the "Queen of the Danube", is one of the most beautiful cities in the world. The Danube flows through the heart of the city, dividing it into the districts of Buda and Pest. In the morning, a tour will first take you through Pest, past the Great Market Hall with excellent gourmet shops and stalls, and along magnificent Baroque buildings such as the Hungarian State Opera in Neo-Renaissance style and the incomparable Parliament building, which was completed in 1904 and has since been one of the city's landmarks. At Heroes' Square, known for its monuments of many Hungarian kings, you will have the opportunity for a photo stop. Afterwards, you will cross one of the seven bridges of the city into the Buda district and up to the Castle Hill, where you will visit Matthias Church and the famous Fisherman's Bastion (if open for visits). Enjoy the unforgettable view of the metropolis before returning to the ship.

Day 6 | Bratislava

This morning, you will get to know the capital of the relatively young Slovak Republic, whose old town has largely preserved its Gothic-Baroque style. The tour will take you past St. Martin's Cathedral and the Grassalkovich Palace up to the castle hill, from where you will have a wonderful panoramic view of the city and its surroundings. During the subsequent walk through the historic city center, you will see numerous Renaissance townhouses, Baroque palaces, and squares. In addition to the oldest university in the country and the Michael's Gate, you will also pass the Old Town Hall, the Maximilian Fountain, and the Opera.

Day 7 | Linz

In the morning, you can enjoy the views on deck. The route to Linz leads from a natural Danube landscape through the Linz Gate directly into the urban backdrop of the Upper Austrian capital – a beautiful transition from nature to city. After lunch, you will discover Linz, a historically significant Danube city that was once shaped by its importance in the Empire and the trade routes of the Holy Roman Empire. During a guided tour, you will explore the elegant main square, the Old and New Cathedral, and discover traces of Renaissance and medieval architecture. Back on board, the day concludes with a festive gala dinner.

Day 8 | Passau – Return Journey

After breakfast, disembarkation takes place, and our bus awaits you for the return journey.
