Departure in the morning to Dresden. To kick off an eventful journey, you will visit the residence with its world-famous museums of art and science from past centuries, foremost the Green Vault. After the visit, room distribution and dinner at the hotel.
Day 2 | First acquaintance – Free time
Breakfast at the hotel. Our Dresden city guide awaits you today for a combined city tour/walking tour. You will get a comprehensive impression and see, among other things, the city center, Hygiene Museum (outside visit) and Glass VW Factory (outside visit), the three Elbe castles, and the villa district of Blasewitz as well as the Neustadt with its baroque and Gründerzeit districts. The subsequent walk takes you through the historic old town and the late baroque complex of the Zwinger courtyard (outside visit), past the famous Procession of Princes to the Frauenkirche on the Neumarkt. The afternoon is entirely yours. In the Neustadt – Dresden's most urban and vibrant district – countless pubs and international restaurants, art galleries, and trendy fashion stores in the renovated Gründerzeit district create an atmosphere reminiscent of the Parisian Quartier Latin and Barcelona.
Day 3 | Saxon Switzerland with Elbe Castles
Today you will explore Saxon Switzerland. The journey first leads to the former summer residence of the Saxon kings, Pillnitz Castle with its parks. After a visit to the castle park, you will continue to the Bastei. The view from the Bastei over the Elbe Valley, onto the table mountains of Saxon Switzerland, extending far into the neighboring landscape of Bohemian Switzerland and the Ore Mountains, is world-famous. After a short walk over the Bastei Bridge, you will take a panoramic drive through Saxon Switzerland to Königstein, with the fortress Königstein towering high above. From here, it’s “anchors aweigh” for a boat trip through one of the most spectacular regions of Germany. In Pirna, you will disembark and take the bus back to Dresden. Individual evening arrangements.
Day 4 | Radebeul – Moritzburg Castle –
Meissen
Between vineyards and the Elbe, right at the gates of Dresden, lies Radebeul, also known as the “Saxon Nice.” With the Lößnitzgrundbahn, you will travel at a leisurely pace into the cool Lößnitzgrund, uphill over a 210-meter-long dam to Moritzburg. Here you will visit the castle known from the fairy tale film “Three Hazelnuts for Cinderella,” named after Duke Moritz. You will then reach Meissen by bus. As you walk through the narrow streets, past charming squares and magnificent townhouses, you will feel transported back in time. With many beautiful impressions, you will return to Dresden in the late afternoon. To conclude a successful day, we invite you to dinner in a historic vaulted restaurant.
