Spiekeroog Island

Spiekeroog is a car-free North Sea island that has gently dedicated itself to the beach, the Wadden Sea, and a quiet, nature-oriented way of life. On just about 20 square kilometers, a cozy, almost timeless island atmosphere unfolds, ideal for unwinding, walking, and recharging.

Day 1 | Arrival

Departure in the morning and drive to Neuharlingersiel, a small idyllic harbor town on the Lower Saxony North Sea coast. From there, the tide-dependent ferry to Spiekeroog departs. The crossing takes you through the vast Wadden Sea, which is reflected in the draining water at low tide and in the lightly foaming water at high tide. During the journey, the fresh sea air provides a refreshing feeling, and you occasionally have a view of the dune islands on the horizon. Upon arrival at the ferry terminal in Spiekeroog, the luggage transfer directly to your hotel makes it easy to start your island stay. Your suitcases will be transported to the hotel, and you can leisurely walk to the village center in about 15 minutes or around 800 meters. Once there, you will be warmly welcomed with a welcome drink.

Day 2 | Village Tour

In the center, you will find easily accessible orientation: the historic spa houses, the tea room atmosphere, and the scent of freshly baked goods accompany you on a guided tour. You will discover the small and large island treasures. A picturesque spot that invites you to stroll and linger. Browse through small, fine shops, enjoy local specialties, and experience genuine hospitality.

Days 3 – 7 | Free Time

Spend the next days entirely according to your wishes. Use the time for a gentle yoga session on the beach, a morning shower in the sea, or stroll along the miles of sandy beach, through the gentle hills of the dune landscape, and leave everyday stress behind. In the wellness area of your hotel, 400 m² of pure relaxation await you. Experience the element of water and its soothing effects. Recharge your energy actively in the gym or relax on the comfortable lounge chairs. Enhance your stay with light massages or salon options offered by the wellness team (for a fee). If you wish, you can also take targeted excursions: Spiekeroog offers cozy mudflat hikes, bike tours along well-marked paths, tea room stops with regional delicacies, or a harbor cruise to discover the maritime flair from the water. In addition, charming restaurants with regional products invite you to relax. Use this time to truly unwind and enjoy the island at your own pace.

Day 8 | Return Journey

Relaxed vacation days come to an end. Your luggage will be loaded and taken to the ferry port. A tide-dependent scheduled ship will take you back to the port of Neuharlingersiel. There, the bus awaits you, and you will begin your journey home.

The ferry crossing is tide-dependent. Your arrival and departure will therefore be adjusted to the ferry times.

The family-run establishment is continuously being lovingly renovated and expanded. Seven buildings are now part of it: 3 hotel houses, 4 holiday apartment houses, and an additional building dedicated entirely to your wellness. The rooms are located in the main building Hotel Inselfriede, House Achtern, and House Südermenss. They are equipped with a shower, WC, hairdryer, TV, telephone, safe, bathrobe, and free Wi-Fi. In the restaurant Friesenstube and Negenteihn with a winter garden and small terrace, fresh seasonal cuisine with modern and Mediterranean accents is served. Sir George’s Pub is authentically furnished, a traditional Irish pub with a fireplace room and a beautiful summer terrace.
