Day 1 | Overnight Stay near Valence
Departure in the morning and drive south. Passing Metz and Nancy, you will reach your hotel near Valence by the end of the day. Dinner and overnight stay at the 3-star Le Nouvel Hôtel (local category) in Portes-lès-Valence.
Day 2 | Between the Papal Palace and Harbor Flair
Drive to Avignon, on the banks of the Rhône. The city is primarily known as the City of the Popes, as it was the seat of the papacy for almost 70 years in the 14th century. During a guided tour, you will discover the historic city. Afterwards, there will be time for an individual stroll through the old town. In the afternoon, you will then reach Marseille, a vibrant harbor metropolis on the Mediterranean. Dinner and overnight stay at the 4-star Hôtel Mercure Marseille Centre Vieux Port (local category).
Day 3 | Typical Marseille
Today, you will discover the highlights of the city during a city tour and learn a lot of interesting facts about Marseille. After an individual lunch break, you will take a boat trip that leads you along the famous Calanques. The Calanques are fjord-like, deeply cut limestone bays with steep cliffs and crystal-clear turquoise water, stretching between Marseille and Cassis. Back on land, the evening is all yours! Perhaps you will visit the Miramar restaurant – the institution for the real, the true Bouillabaisse, which has nothing in common with a fish soup. Individual evening arrangements.
Day 4 | Charm of the Old Town – Time to
Enjoy
You start the day with a special city walk through the old town district Le Panier, the oldest district of Marseille. You will discover small squares, artistically painted house walls, galleries, studios, and cozy cafés. The narrow streets tell of the over 2,600-year history of Marseille, dating back to the founding of the city by Greek settlers. Afterwards, you have time to explore Marseille on your own. Stroll through the shopping streets around Rue Saint-Ferréol, enjoy a café au lait on a sunny terrace, and watch the colorful hustle and bustle of the city. You will end the evening in a restaurant just a few meters from the old town harbor of Marseille.
Day 5 | From the Mediterranean Coast to Burgundy
Strengthened by breakfast, you head back home and reach Beaune in the afternoon. In this well-known city, a visit to the Hôtel-Dieu is a must. It is one of the most famous historical buildings in Burgundy. Afterwards, dinner and overnight stay at the 4-star Hôtel Novotel Beaune (local category).
Day 6 | Return Journey
With many unforgettable impressions and beautiful memories in your travel luggage, you begin your journey home.
