Mecklenburg Lake District
Manor Houses & Castles
Historical courtyards, baroque churches, countless lakes – immerse yourself in the land of 1,000 lakes. Nestled idyllically in this landscape is the town of Stavenhagen. The gateway to the Mecklenburg Switzerland is famous for the significant poet and writer Fritz Reuter, who lends the town its official honorary name "Reuterstadt". His monument stands proudly in the historic marketplace. The old castle with its park and walls rises above the small town, where a fortress once stood.
