Prague

The 'Golden City'

Prague owes its nickname "Golden City" to its magnificent houses, churches, and monumental buildings. No wonder, as nowhere else in the world has a historic city center remained so completely intact. In the old capital of Bohemia, Don Giovanni premiered, Einstein taught at the university, Bismarck made peace here, and Beethoven composed. But Prague is also closely connected to German imperial history, the Laterna Magica, and the good soldier Schwejk. Hundreds of cultural monuments still testify to the significance of this world city, which is considered one of the most charming cities in Europe.

Departure in the early morning and drive to Prague. You will be warmly welcomed at the hotel. After room allocation, dinner at the hotel.

Day 2 | City Tour “Hradschin”

Today you will visit the castle complex at Hradschin, high above the city. You will pass through the impressive gate, the various castle courtyards, pass the seat of the President of the Republic, and finally come to the towering Gothic St. Vitus Cathedral (entrance not included). Following the visit, you will walk through the impressive, also Gothic Vladislav Hall and hear about the Defenestration of Prague, the trigger for the Thirty Years' War. The Golden Lane and much more can be seen on the castle hill before today’s tour ends with a walk in the valley that offers a magnificent view over the city. In the afternoon and evening, you will have the opportunity for your own city explorations.

Day 3 | Prague Old Town – Jewish Quarter

After breakfast, the sights of Prague's Old Town will be the focus of a guided tour. The beautiful square at the Old Town Square with the Town Hall Tower and Astronomical Clock, the Church of Our Lady before Týn, the monument of church reformer and national hero Jan Hus captivates every visitor to Prague. Afterwards, you will immerse yourself in Jewish Prague, see three of the most significant synagogues, and the impressive Jewish cemetery (entrance not included). The afternoon is at your leisure. How about a boat trip on the Vltava River followed by a “spot in the sun” at the large Old Town Market? Or you can stroll leisurely through the alleys of the Old Town to the Charles Bridge. In the evening, we invite you to a “Prague Beer Evening” with delicious Bohemian specialties. Live musicians will play for dancing and create a good atmosphere.

Day 4 | Karlštejn Castle – Free Time

In the morning, you will travel to “Karlstein” Castle. Karlštejn makes a great impression on everyone, and its interiors are designed as faithfully as possible to the medieval model. On both visiting routes, you can see not only the historically extraordinarily valuable architecture but also furnishings that correspond approximately to those surrounding Emperor Charles IV. The not too large St. Catherine's Chapel in the Mary Tower stands out due to its Gothic wall decoration. Back in Prague, you will have time to stroll and shop, or you can sit in one of the cozy establishments and watch the colorful hustle and bustle of this beautiful city. In the evening, numerous typical establishments invite you to dinner.
