Itinerary

Day 1 | Arrival in Linz (approx. 680 km)

Departure in the morning and drive to Linz for an overnight stay. Check into your room and have dinner at the hotel.

Day 2 | Arad (approx. 700 km)

After breakfast, continue towards Arad. At the Romanian border, your Romanian tour guide wishes you “Bun venit in Romania” – Welcome. Drive to Arad, which boasts a beautiful old town and numerous historical buildings. Particularly noteworthy are the elegant squares and structures from the time of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy. Check into your room and have dinner at the hotel.

Day 3 | Arad – Hunedoara – Sibiu (approx. 300 km)

Right after breakfast, you will take an informative city tour. The former affiliation with the Habsburg Empire has left its mark here; the city is characterized by Baroque architecture. In Hunedoara (Iron Market), you will visit one of the best-preserved medieval castles, Hunyadi. Afterward, continue to Sibiu (Hermannstadt). Visit the former European Capital of Culture. Sibiu is a gem of old German houses, churches, fortifications, and Baroque, Neoclassical, Neo-Gothic, and Art Nouveau buildings. These tell the impressive history of Hermannstadt – as Sibiu was formerly known. You will see the Brukenthal Palace, the old town hall, and the Evangelical Church. After checking into your hotel, enjoy a sociable evening nearby Sibiu with regional specialties, schnapps, and wine at a farm in Sibiel.

Day 4 | Sibiu – Cozia Monastery – Bucharest with

Palace of the Parliament (approx. 270 km)

Drive to Bucharest with a detour to Cozia Monastery, one of the most famous monasteries in Wallachia. Bucharest was known around 1930 as the “Paris of the East.” During the visit, you will learn why the city earned this nickname. The “Leipzig Quarter” – the old town – is more beautiful than ever today. Cafés and restaurants line the streets, including the Stravropoleos Monastery. A highlight is certainly the visit to the Palace of the Parliament, one of the largest buildings in the world. For the construction of the “House of the People,” large parts of the historic old town were demolished. It stands as a symbol of democracy, housing the activities and structures of the Chamber of Deputies, the Senate, the Constitutional Court, the Legislative Council, etc. After the visit, you will head to your hotel for check-in. The day concludes with dinner at a traditional restaurant featuring Romanian folklore and wine.

Day 5 | Bucharest – Constanta – Tulcea

(approx. 380 km)

Drive to Constanta, one of the most important port cities in Europe since Roman times. During a visit, you will discover the main attractions of this historic port city on the Black Sea. Particularly impressive are the waterfront promenade and the famous Art Nouveau casino, which is considered a landmark of the city. After a lunch break, continue to Tulcea, the gateway to the Danube Delta and the starting point for your excursion the next day. Check into your hotel for the next two nights. Dinner at the hotel.

Day 6 | In Tulcea – Excursion to the Danube Delta

Today, enjoy the wild nature of the Danube Delta during a boat trip with lunch on board. This unique water labyrinth is a must-see not only for nature lovers. Over 5,000 square kilometers extend with three main and countless side arms, lakes, and Europe’s largest reed area. What you might not expect are the dunes and dry biotopes. Cranes, pelicans, sea eagles, and many other bird species call this place home. Enjoy the ride through this paradise! Back at the hotel, dinner will already be waiting for you.

Day 7 | Tulcea – Bran Castle – Brasov

(approx. 430 km)

Today’s journey takes you to Brasov (Kronstadt), located in the Carpathian Mountains. A stop is planned at the legendary Dracula's Castle, Bran Castle, for a visit. Check into your room and have dinner at the hotel.

Day 8 | Brasov – Sighisoara – Biertan –

Cluj-Napoca (approx. 280 km)

You will visit Brasov, one of the most beautiful cities in Romania, often compared to the Polish city of Krakow. Learn about the city’s history at the Town Hall Square, where the oldest building in the city is located: the Town Hall Tower. Next to it stands the Black Church, named for the charring from a fire in the 17th century. You will walk in the footsteps of the Transylvanian Saxons at every turn. Continue to Sighisoara (Schäßburg). You will see the city’s landmark – the Clock Tower, the Church on the Hill, and the birthplace of “Dracula.” In Biertan, the pastor himself will guide you through the impressive fortified church. Arrive in Cluj-Napoca (Klausenburg) in the late afternoon. Check into your hotel and have dinner.

Day 9 | Cluj-Napoca – Oradea (approx. 160 km)

After breakfast, you will get to know the sights in the center, such as St. Michael's Church. In the afternoon, you will reach Oradea (Großwaradein). After a city tour, drive to the hotel. Check into your room and have dinner.

Day 10 | Oradea – Vienna (approx. 500 km)

At the border crossing Bors, it’s “La revedere, Romania” – Goodbye, Romania! and farewell to the Romanian tour guide. You will continue to Vienna for your last overnight stay.

Day 11 | Return journey (approx. 830 km)

After breakfast, begin your journey home.
