Departure in the morning and drive to Marienberg in the Ore Mountains. Here you will experience the festive mountain parade, one of the highlights of the Ore Mountain Advent season. Dressed in traditional miner's attire, miners, apprentices, and musicians parade through the decorated streets, bringing the centuries-old mining culture to life. Afterwards, continue to Oberwiesenthal, Germany's highest town at Fichtelberg. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.
No matter the season: The Ore Mountains always surprise and entice with their diversity. Today's drive takes you through picturesque villages to the toy village of Seiffen, home to the Toy Museum and many traditional folk art shops. In the afternoon, you will visit Annaberg-Buchholz, whose history has been shaped by mining. A sea of lights from candle arches, pyramids, and Christmas trees at the foot of the Pöhlberg forms the Annaberg Christmas Mountain, crowned by the famous St. Anne's Church. At its center is the Annaberg Christmas Market, surrounded by the so-called “Christmas Worlds.” Here you can experience the Advent season in an atmosphere that is hard to find in any other city. You will return to your hotel for dinner.
If you are at the German-Czech border, you should definitely visit Karlovy Vary, one of the most beautiful spa towns in the region, with its colonnades, architectural monuments, and parks. Stroll along the historic buildings, enjoy the winter atmosphere, and let yourself be enchanted by the unique charm of this Bohemian gem. After a guided city tour, there will still be plenty of time for an individual stroll through the Christmas market. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.
Today you will take a tour of the Western Ore Mountains. The miner's woodcarving art of the Western Ore Mountains and the miner's longing for light give rise to the unique folk art shaped by mining. The many exhibits in Schneeberg will surely captivate you and provide a unique insight into the world of miner's folk art. Next, we head to Eibenstock to the Funke Embroidery – essentially following the traces of embroidery art and Plauen lace. During a company visit, you will learn interesting facts about this art, and a glass of sparkling wine will be provided for your welcome. Afterwards, there will be an opportunity to shop in the store. On the way, you will admire the largest free-standing candle arch in the world in Johanngeorgenstadt. You will return to your hotel for dinner.
With many beautiful impressions and perhaps a Christmas gift or two in your luggage, you will begin your journey home.
