Alpine Advent in South Tyrol
Original South Tyrolean Christmas Markets
When the snow gently falls, the bells from the church tower ring, and the sweet scent of gingerbread, mulled wine, and cinnamon fills the air, then Christmas is near. In the quietest time of the year, South Tyrol reminds us of Christmas as it was in days gone by. At the Alpine Advent, one can be transported into the enchanting world of ancient, almost forgotten crafts, traditional customs, and heartfelt warmth amidst a magical winter landscape. Here, long-forgotten childhood memories come alive….

Experience the flair of the capital city during a guided city tour, let the South Tyrolean way of life inspire you, and admire unique cultural and natural monuments. The historic old town, especially the Lauben – the city's main shopping street – has been shaped for centuries as a trading place between Italy and Germany. Afterwards, you will have the opportunity to visit the Christmas market, one of the oldest in the country. Over 70 exhibitors, a colorful supporting program with performances and concerts, typical specialties, and plenty of lights await you at Walterplatz. You will return to your hotel for dinner.
Day 3 | Small Dolomites Tour – Light and Music Show Brixen
After breakfast, you will drive to St. Lorenzen and from there through the famous Alta Badia (Gadertal) to Corvara. One of the most impressive places in the Dolomites is the Sella Massif (Gup di Sela), from which the four Ladin valleys radiate in all four cardinal directions. Continue over the Grödner Joch into the Gröden Valley, the valley of the world-famous mountaineer Luis Trenker. After a short sightseeing stop in St. Ulrich, you will reach the ancient bishop's city of Brixen with its traditional Christmas market. The Baroque city of Brixen is the oldest city in Tyrol and has been a medieval bishop's city since 901. You will have time to stroll through the original South Tyrolean Christmas market, which gathers regional crafts and gastronomy around the sparkling Christmas tree. A special experience awaits you with the light and music show. The facades of the Brixen Hofburg transform into a moving picture world – atmospherically accompanied by music. Let yourself be surprised! Return to the hotel and dinner.
Day 4 | Ritten Christmas Market – Christmas Market Klausen
Drive to Bolzano. From here, take the cable car to Oberbozen on the Ritten to the Ritten Christmas market – the Ritten Christbahnl, authentic and traditional. The scent of gingerbread and mulled wine, traditional soups, and typical products rises from small Ritten stalls, a contemplative market away from the hustle and bustle of the large Christmas markets. In the afternoon, continue with the narrow-gauge railway to Klobenstein and from there by bus to Klausen for the Klausner Gassladvent. A Christmas market like out of a picture book. Deep green fir trees and natural decorations make the old town of Klausen shine in a particularly festive setting, while sparkling lanterns adorn the facades of historic buildings. The sales stalls stretch through the winding alleys and reach into the cozy vaulted cellars of the townhouses. You will return to your hotel for dinner.
