Bad Wiessee on Lake Tegernsee

Heart and charm at the Bavarian Alps

The Tegernsee attracts thousands of visitors every year and enchants them with a carefree atmosphere, Bavarian coziness, and very special moments. The Hotel Rex is, as it was over 100 years ago, open only from April to October. What began as a classic residence for summer freshness in the 'Pension Beil' in 1901 is now a tribute to the old times and the specialization in what the Beil family truly loves: providing guests with the perfect vacation in the Bavarian mountains.

Travel Itinerary

Day 1 | Arrival

Departure in the morning and drive to Tegernsee to Bad Wiessee. The community on the west shore of Tegernsee has always stood for the healing power of nature on humans. After checking into your room, the rest of the day is at your leisure for initial explorations around the hotel.

Day 2 | Bad Tölz

Drive to the famous spa town of Bad Tölz, the main town in the Isar Valley. After a guided city tour, you have free time. The beautifully wide market street, now a pedestrian zone, with its frescoed gable facades is incomparable. A lovely, well-maintained spa park with old trees invites you to linger. After a longer stay, return to the hotel.

Day 3 | Free Time

Today is at your leisure. Perhaps you will take advantage of the numerous recreational offers in the region – with the Tegernsee Card, you receive up to 50% discount on various services.

Day 4 | Zillertal

Today you will travel to the beautiful Zillertal with a visit to Mayrhofen – strong traditions and modernity are not a contradiction here. The distinctive elevations of the Zillertal and Tux Alps with their three-thousand-meter peaks create an impressive natural backdrop. After an appropriate stay, return along Lake Achensee. In Pertisau, you will make a stop. Pertisau, nestled between the mountains and on the shores of Lake Achensee, serves as the gateway to three gently rising alpine valleys. The town invites you to stroll and linger.

Day 5 | Excursion “into the Eng”

Today you will drive along the Silvenstein Reservoir. Beneath its water surface lies the village of “Fall,” described by Ganghofer in his novel “Jäger vom Fall.” Via Vorderriß and Hinterriß, you will reach the Great Maple Basin in the Eng. A longer stay is planned here. Enjoy the magnificent mountain backdrop of the rock walls of the Karwendel Mountains and pure alpine idyll.

Day 6 | Chiemsee

After breakfast, you will take a day trip to Chiemsee. It is the largest lake in Bavaria and lies in a picturesque pre-Alpine setting. From Prien, you will first take a boat to Herrenchiemsee Island and then continue to Fraueninsel. Stop for a coffee and a piece of cake with a fantastic view over the lake to the Chiemgau Alps. Back on land, you will return to your hotel.

Day 7 | Free Time

You can again shape today according to your wishes.

Day 8 | Return Journey

Today it is time to say goodbye to Tegernsee. After breakfast, you will begin your journey home. In Beilngries, in the beautiful Altmühltal, you will make a stop around lunchtime.
