Travel Itinerary

Day 1 | Arrival in the Livorno Area

Departure in the early morning and drive towards Tuscany. In the Livorno area, you will be warmly welcomed at a good mid-range hotel for an overnight stay.

Day 2 | Day Ferry Livorno – Bastia

You board the ferry in the port of Livorno and reach Corsica in four hours. At the port, your local tour guide for the next seven days will greet you, and together you will travel to the hotel in the L'Ile Rousse area. Check-in for the next two nights.

Day 3 | Balagne – Calvi

The Balagne is one of the most beautiful regions of Corsica. You will drive from L'Ile Rousse along the coastal road through Algajola to Calvi. In the hinterland of Balagne, you will experience the "Old Villages." This former cultural landscape offers history and beautiful views, such as from the "Eagle's Nest" San Antonino. It is the oldest village in the area, located at an altitude of 447 m.

Day 4 | L'Ile Rousse – Ajaccio

Along the coast, through the Désert des Agreates, you will head towards Corte, the secret capital of Corsica. Pasquale Paoli invites you to stroll through the narrow streets of the Corsican university town. Even today, the city bears traces of the Corsican freedom struggle of the 18th century. You will continue along the railway line that crosses the island until Ajaccio appears before you in a bay. Check-in at the hotel for the next three nights.

Day 5 | Calanche

Today you will discover a highlight of Corsica: the red granite rocks north of Ajaccio. Just past Piana, you will experience the play of shapes and colors, the unique chaos of interlocked and towering rock masses. In Porto, you have the opportunity to explore a unique nature reserve in Europe, the Scandola Nature Reserve, by boat (optional approx. €38 per person). The Calanches and the Scandola Nature Park have been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Return to the hotel through the Spelunca Gorge and over Evisa.

Day 6 | Ajaccio – Free Time

After breakfast, you will take a city tour of Ajaccio. Generous boulevards, palm-lined squares, the Fesch Palace, and the traces of Napoleon repeatedly shape the cityscape. The afternoon is at your leisure.

Day 7 | Ajaccio – Bonifacio

Today you will leave Ajaccio and head south past Sartène, allegedly "the most Corsican of all Corsican towns." A magnificent sight awaits you at the southernmost tip of the island: the old port city of Bonifacio, boldly built high above the sea on a rock and surrounded by a massive wall. Check-in at the hotel in the Porto Vecchio area.

Day 8 | Porto Vecchio – Bastia

Today you will travel over Ospedal into the Bavella Mountains. In the afternoon, you will continue to Solenzara, and upon arrival in Bastia, it will be time to say goodbye. The night ferry departs towards the mainland.

Day 9 | Savona – Return Journey

Arrival in Savona in the early morning and commencement of the return journey.
