Cycling between the North Sea & Baltic Sea

Discover Schleswig-Holstein on varied cycling tours between the North Sea and the Baltic Sea. From your location in Groß Wittensee, explore the Schlei, Husum, and Nordstrand, the Kiel Fjord, and the North Sea-Baltic Sea Canal. Day 1 | Arrival

Departure in the morning and travel to Groß Wittensee in Schleswig-Holstein. After arriving at the hotel, you will check into your rooms and then enjoy a joint dinner.

Day 2 | Schleswig, the Cathedral and Holm

You start from the hotel through the gentle hilly landscape south of the Schlei. Partially following the historic Ochsenweg, you will cycle leisurely to Schleswig. The town at the western end of the Schlei has a history of over 1,000 years. There, you will first see the impressive St. Peter's Cathedral. Afterwards, there will be time for an individual stroll through the old town, the historic fishing district of Holm, or at the city harbor. The return trip is comfortably by bus.

Day 3 | Husum – Nordstrand

Hooray – today we are heading to the North Sea! You will take the bus to Husum. During a small guided tour, you will get to know the city before your cycling tour begins. Partially on the North Sea Cycle Route, you will cycle through the Beltringharder Koog and along the access road to the Hamburger Hallig with wide views over dikes, salt marshes, and the Wadden Sea to the Nordstrand peninsula. In Norderhafen, there will be time for a snack with a delicious fish sandwich. The bus will be waiting in Nordstrand, and you will return to the hotel.

Day 4 | Free time or cycling tour at Wittensee

Today you can design the day according to your own wishes. Take a cycling trip in the area – for example, a round trip around Wittensee. You can expect beautiful views of the lake, small villages, and the typical landscape of Schleswig-Holstein (approx. 30 km).

Day 5 | Kiel & Kieler Förde

You will take the bus to Kiel, where you will get to know the most important sights during a small city tour. Afterwards, you will continue to Laboe. Here, your cycling tour along the Kieler Förde begins with magnificent views of the water and maritime shipping traffic. You will cycle through the landscape of Schleswig-Holstein over Kiel to Eckernförde and further to the hotel.

Day 6 | Ship watching at the North-East Sea Canal

You will take the bus through the geest landscape to Rendsburg, your starting point for the cycling tour. First, you will head west before cycling partially on the other side of the canal back to Rendsburg. Along the way, you will experience the vastness of the canal and the distinctive railway viaduct. In Rendsburg, there will be time for a stroll. Afterwards, you will return to the hotel by bus. Those who wish can also cover the distance by bicycle.

Day 7 | Return journey

After beautiful days, it's time to head home.
