Itinerary

Day 1 | Arrival – Utrecht – Embarkation in
Amsterdam/Huizen

Departure in the morning and drive towards Amsterdam/Huizen. In Utrecht, you will make a stopover around lunchtime. In the afternoon, arrival in Amsterdam/Huizen, where you will board the ship. There you can toast to the start of your river cruise with a welcome cocktail. In the evening, a cozy welcome dinner awaits you to celebrate the first day appropriately.

Day 2 | Nijmegen

In the morning, you will discover Nijmegen, the oldest city in the Netherlands with over 2,000 years of Roman history, on a guided tour. The historic center still preserves numerous traces of this past. After the heavy destruction of World War II, the city was largely rebuilt. You will see, among other things, the town hall from the 15th century, the Stevenskerk from the 13th century, as well as the charming streets with their historic buildings and small shops. The afternoon is at your leisure to explore the city individually, shop, or relax in one of the many cafés.

Day 3 | Maastricht

In the morning, you will discover Maastricht on a guided tour. The university city in the far south of the Netherlands impresses with its medieval architecture, Roman roots, and a vibrant cultural scene. You will see, among other things, the historic old town with the Gothic St. John's Church (Sint Janskerk) and the Romanesque St. Servatius Basilica, which is known for its significant collection of sacred art. Along the Maas, you will experience the special charm of this historic city and gain exciting insights into its eventful history. The afternoon offers opportunities for your own discoveries. Use the free time to enjoy the special atmosphere of Maastricht, stroll through the lively shopping streets, explore historic squares, or relax in one of the cafés by the riverside.

Day 4 | Liège

During the night, the ship docks in Liège. In the morning, you have the opportunity to explore the largest city in Wallonia on your own. The former prince-bishop city impressively combines history and modernity. Stroll through the charming old town with its historic squares, visit the numerous shops and boutiques, or enjoy the lively atmosphere in one of the cozy street cafés. The imposing Montagne de Bueren, the elegant opera house, or the modern promenades along the Maas also invite you to a personal stay. Back on board, you will experience the varied landscape of Belgium from a very special perspective as your ship navigates the Maas and the Belgian waterways towards Ghent. Passing green river landscapes, small villages, and impressive locks, you will enjoy relaxed hours on board. Observe the leisurely activity along the waterways and let the passing nature take effect on you. Use the time to enjoy the amenities of your ship.

Day 5 | Ghent

A city created to enjoy life. Here, where the Middle Ages are omnipresent in the streets and alleys and stylishly merge with modernity, you will always find a good reason to marvel or wander timelessly. In the morning, the excursion takes you to the heart of Ghent – the centuries-old center of the city. You will discover, for example, the bell tower with its 54 melodious carillons as well as St. Bavo's Cathedral. Step inside and experience a true masterpiece of the Middle Ages: the Ghent Altarpiece by Hubert and Jan van Eyck (depending on opening hours and holy masses, etc.). Your visit to the Gravensteen Castle is also wonderfully impressive. In the 12th century, Philip of Alsace, Count of Flanders, had it built on the remains of a Viking castle. Today, it is Flanders' only preserved water castle with an almost completely intact defense system. Following this historical treat, we will sweeten your day in a Ghent chocolate shop. Here you can taste many delicacies – and then indulge yourself with a personal tour of the city.

Day 6 | Antwerp

In the morning, you will discover Antwerp on a city tour. The cosmopolitan port metropolis delights not only as a center of the diamond trade but also with its rich cultural heritage. In the historic city center, you will find magnificent merchant houses, picturesque squares, and the imposing Cathedral of Our Lady (Onze-Lieve-Vrouwekathedraal), the largest Gothic church in Belgium. Inside, you can admire significant works of art, including masterpieces by Peter Paul Rubens and impressive murals from the 15th century. The visit is rounded off with a tasting of a typical Belgian waffle. The afternoon is at your leisure. Use the time for an individual city stroll, discover the numerous shops and boutiques, or enjoy the special flair of the vibrant port city in one of the many cafés.

Day 7 | Rotterdam – Kinderdijk

The Netherlands is famous for its windmills, of which there are still more than 1,000 today. The largest collection of windmills can be found near Kinderdijk. Here, there is a group of 19 windmills built around 1740 that have been well preserved to this day. On a approximately 4-hour excursion, visit one of the old mills and learn more about the work of the mills in the past and how they have been replaced in the present by modern pumping stations.

Day 8 | Disembarkation – Amsterdam – Return journey

After breakfast, disembarkation takes place. Until your return journey, there is still time to explore the Dutch capital on your own. Take a walk along the famous canals or observe the bustling activity in the historic alleys. The Dam Square with the Royal Palace, the floating flower market, or the many small shops also invite you to a relaxed stroll. Departure for the return journey at noon.
