Taster cruise on the Danube

Experience the magnificent Danube on an unforgettable river cruise with the DCS Amethyst 1. This journey, starting and ending in the three-river city of Passau, takes you to the highlights of the metropolises of Vienna, Budapest, and Bratislava. Comfortable cabins and first-class service ensure a relaxing stay on board. On three decks plus a sun deck, a total of 172 guests can be accommodated in 87 elegant outside cabins with tasteful ambiance.

Day 1 | Passau – Embarkation

Bus journey to Passau and embarkation in the afternoon on the DCS Amethyst 1, where you will be warmly welcomed with a welcome cocktail. Afterwards, enjoy a welcome dinner on board.

Day 2 | Vienna

Around noon, you will arrive in Vienna and see the city's sights during a city tour and walk. Vienna has an intact historical cityscape like few other major cities, characterized by magnificent buildings from the Baroque and Gründerzeit periods. Of course, there will also be some free time. Back on board, your ship sets course downstream towards Hungary.

Day 3 | Budapest

In the morning, you will dock in the “Queen of the Danube,” the Hungarian capital Budapest. During a guided city tour and walk, you will discover many familiar and surely also unknown aspects of this historic city – magnificent Baroque buildings along Andrássy Boulevard, the opera house, the parliament on the banks of the Danube, and the famous Chain Bridge. Afterwards, you will cross the Danube and explore the historic Buda side with its narrow streets and impressive buildings. Perched high above the city, this part of Budapest offers a special impression of history and atmosphere. To conclude, enjoy a walk to the castle garden with its viewing terrace and a grand panorama over Budapest, the Danube, and the parliament from a particularly beautiful perspective. Before returning on board, you will have some free time.

Day 4 | Bratislava

Experience the charming capital of Slovakia, where history and modernity harmoniously intertwine. Your city tour begins with the impressive St. Martin's Cathedral, once the coronation church of Hungarian kings, and the elegant Grassalkovich Palace, the current seat of the President of Slovakia. Afterwards, you will drive up to the imposing Bratislava Castle, the city's landmark, and learn exciting facts about the eventful history of this former coronation city. Perched high above the Danube, it offers a magnificent view over the city and river. Then, take a walk through the historic city center with the Old Town Hall, past St. Martin's Cathedral, the opera house, and much more. Back on board, the ship sets course towards the Wachau.

Day 5 | Wachau – Melk Abbey

In the morning, you will reach the Wachau and visit the 900-year-old Baroque Melk Abbey. Melk Abbey has been inhabited by Benedictine monks since its founding. Its magnificent architecture is known worldwide, and its location in the UNESCO World Heritage site of Wachau is unique. The excursion will be rounded off with a wine tasting. You can end the day with a gala dinner on board.

Day 6 | Passau – Return Journey

In the morning, you will arrive in Passau. Disembarkation and return journey.
