Winter romance at Lake Lucerne

In the heart of Switzerland lies the calm and dark blue Lake Lucerne, nestled in the foothills of the Alps. On the shores of the lake is Weggis, a place that reveals a quiet, fairy-tale side, especially during the Christmas season. The scenic beauty of this region is unique in winter – you will experience quaint, festively decorated villages along the far-reaching Lake Lucerne, surrounded by snow-capped mountains, and travel by train through the Swiss winter paradise. These backdrops make the Christmas journey a unique experience.

Day 1 | Arrival

Departure in the morning and drive to Central Switzerland to the enchanting Lake Lucerne. You will be warmly welcomed at the hotel. Check-in and dinner at the hotel.

Day 2 | Lucerne – Lake Lucerne

Today, we take a boat to Lucerne, which during the Christmas season is also referred to as a contemplative and cheerful city of lights (the boat trip can, depending on the current schedule, also be in reverse). Explore the sights such as the Jesuit Church, the famous Chapel Bridge, the Lion Monument, and the Old Town. Let yourself be enchanted by the sparkling Christmas lights and the festive atmosphere at the various Christmas markets, or stroll along the lakeside promenade. We recommend visiting the "Rudolf" Christmas market, which is located in the midst of the stunning backdrop of the Inseli Park with a view of Lake Lucerne. Enjoy the culinary variety in the hut alleys and pre-Christmas "Gschänkli-poschte" with changing design and craft vendors. After an appropriate stay, you will return to the hotel by bus.

Day 3 | Lucerne-Interlaken Express 

Enjoy breathtaking views and embark on an unforgettable journey with the Zentralbahn from Lucerne over the Brünig Pass to Interlaken through the heart of Switzerland. On this superlative train ride, the fantastic Alpine panorama is your constant companion. Through the panoramic windows, you will experience the snow-covered Alps rising in the winter sunlight from afar. Upon arrival in Interlaken, the surroundings are dominated by the snow-capped peaks of the Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau. The snow-covered streets of Interlaken and the festively decorated buildings give the place a Christmas, almost magical atmosphere. After dinner, there is an opportunity to attend the service at the parish church (about 200 m from the hotel) at 10:30 PM. We wish you a Merry Christmas!

Day 4 | William Tell and the Rigi – Queen of the Mountains 

Today, you will follow in the footsteps of the Swiss national hero, William Tell. First, you will travel by coach towards Küssnacht and visit the famous "Hohle Gasse," where, according to legend, William Tell shot the bailiff Gessler. A small Tell chapel and the ruins of Gessler Castle remind of this dramatic event. The journey continues along Lake Lucerne over Vitznau to Brunnen. Your trip continues to the starting point of the Rigi, to Arth-Goldau. From here, you will take the oldest cogwheel train in Europe high up. Through forests and tunnels, over generous meadows and past steep waterfalls, the train winds its way up to the summit of Rigi Kulm. The train ride offers glimpses into the vast central region and Lake Zug. Upon arrival at the top, you will be greeted with a magnificent 360° panoramic view of Lake Lucerne and the entire Alpine panorama. On the side of Lake Lucerne, you will descend towards Vitznau. In the early afternoon, return by bus to the hotel. You will have enough time to prepare for the Christmas party with a mulled wine aperitif. An exclusive Christmas dinner awaits you.

Day 5 | Departure

With many beautiful impressions, you will begin your journey home after breakfast.
