Czech Republic Tour
Dream roads through Bohemia and Moravia
The Czech Republic is a country with a rich and diverse history in the heart of Europe. For millennia, people have settled here, cultivated the landscape in which they lived, and created complex works of art that deserve the attention of UNESCO. All the splendor that has adorned Prague for eleven centuries, the irregular maze of medieval streets in Český Krumlov, the Renaissance houses in 'white' Telč, or the castle and park facilities of Lednice and Valtice represent a legendary collection of artistic and historical values.
Travel Features
Itinerary
1st Day | Arrival in Budweis (approx. 678 km)
Departure in the early morning and drive to Budweis. Dinner and overnight stay at the 4-star Hotel Budweis (local category).
2nd Day | Budweis – Cesky Krumlov (approx. 55 km)
In the morning, you will take a tour of the historic city center of Budweis. The extensive square bears the name of the city's founder, Premysl Ottokar II. The mighty Samson Fountain is the centerpiece of the square and forms a magnificent ensemble with the charming townhouses and their connected arcades. Afterwards, you will get to know the enchanting landscape of the Bohemian Forest. After a short drive, you will reach Cesky Krumlov, a gem of urban architecture. The huge castle complex towers high above the Vltava River and dominates the entire cityscape with its massive dimensions. The medieval town, with its steep roofs and gables from the Renaissance and Baroque periods, nestles picturesque in the river bend, and the walk through the old town leads through a labyrinth of narrow, winding alleys with old stone stairs, arches, gates, and bay windows. Back in Budweis, we invite you to dinner in a typical Budweiser beer tavern.
3rd Day | Budweis – Telč – Brno (approx. 200 km)
Drive via Wittingau (Trebon) – Neuhaus (Jindrichuv Hradec) to the “white” city of Telč. Through the elongated marketplace with its picturesque gabled houses and arcades, you will pass the Jesuit Church and St. Jacob's Church to the castle. The beautiful Renaissance building houses collections of paintings, weapons, and hunting memorabilia. Via Trebic, you will reach the Moravian metropolis of Brno in the early evening. Dinner and overnight stay at the centrally located 4-star Superior Hotel International (local category).
4th Day | Brno – Moravian Karst (approx. 70 km)
After breakfast, you will take a walk through the historic old town. The cityscape is dominated by St. Peter and Paul Cathedral and Spielberg Castle. You will see the charming shops on Freedom Square, the Old Town Hall with its Gothic tower portal, and the legendary landmark of the city, the Brno Dragon and the Brno Wheel. In the afternoon, you will drive to the Moravian Karst, a wild romantic, rugged terrain with magnificent gorges and stalactite caves. You will take a little train to the Punkva Cave. Here you will see bizarre stalactite formations and undertake part of the tour in boats on the underground river Punkva. Then, you will take the cable car up to the viewing platform, from where you can look 138 m into the depths of the Macocha Gorge. For dinner, you will return to your hotel.
5th Day | Mikulov – Eisgrub – Feldsberg
(approx. 160 km)
Your excursion to the southern Moravian wine-growing region begins with a tour of Mikulov. The mighty castle dominates the cityscape, and from afar, the baroque dome of the Sebastian Church greets you from the Holy Mountain. Further south, you will find the largest composed park area in Europe. In the mid-13th century, the Liechtenstein family acquired the lands around Eisgrub, cultivated the fallow land along the Thaya, and created unique ensembles of large and small buildings that appear like framed pearls in the vast mosaic of rivers, canals, and parks. Particularly worth seeing are the Baroque residence of Feldsberg and the castle of Eisgrub, which was remodeled in the spirit of Romanticism with its pointed arches and battlements. In a rustic wine cellar, the day concludes with dinner and wine. Overnight stay in Brno.
6th Day | Brno – Prague (approx. 210 km)
After breakfast, you will drive to Prague, a multifaceted and colorful city with over 1,000 years of history and unparalleled medieval architecture. A walk through the old town takes you past the Jewish Quarter through Paris Street with its beautiful Art Nouveau buildings to the Old Town Square. Here you will see the Town Hall with the Astronomical Clock, the Gothic Týn Church, and the Baroque St. Nicholas Church, and then continue to stroll through charming winding alleys along the coronation route to Charles Bridge. Dinner and overnight stay at the 4-star Hotel Adria in Prague, directly on Wenceslas Square.
7th Day | Prague Castle – Castle Gardens
(approx. 15 – 20 km)
Today you will get to know Gothic Prague: Hradčany with St. Vitus Cathedral, the Old Royal Palace with Vladislav Hall, St. George's Basilica, Golden Lane, and Daliborka Tower. After so much stone history, the green spaces around the castle offer a welcome change. The royal gardens with the ball house, orangery, and the Belvedere extend to the north, and from the gardens in the south, a wonderful panorama opens up over the Old and New Town, Lesser Town, and the lifeblood of the Golden City, the Vltava River. The day concludes with a stroll through Baroque Prague in the Lesser Town. You can spend the afternoon according to your own ideas. To end the day, we invite you to a cozy restaurant in Prague for dinner.
8th Day | Return Journey (approx. 626 km)
With many beautiful new impressions in your travel luggage, you will begin your journey home.
