From the Alps to the Mediterranean

From the majestic peaks of the Swiss Alps to the palm-fringed Mediterranean, you will experience impressive landscape contrasts on this journey. The route along the famous 'Route Napoléon' takes you through the fascinating mountain world of the French Alps and the diverse landscapes of Haute-Provence. Look forward to charming towns, imposing gorges, spectacular panoramas, and finally the Mediterranean flair of the French Mediterranean coast.

Day 1 | Arrival – Lucerne

Departure in the morning and drive to Switzerland. On the way, you will make a stop in Lucerne. Use the time for a stroll through the picturesque old town or along Lake Lucerne. Afterwards, continue to Sarnen and check into the hotel.

Day 2 | Train Journey: Sarnen – Montreux –

Martigny (approx. 280 km)

Today you will experience the breathtaking diversity of Switzerland on a train journey, where you can take in the landscape as you pass by spectacular mountain panoramas, forests, and wild rivers. You will travel on the historic Golden Pass route, which leads from Sarnen over the Brünig Pass and past Lake Brienz to Interlaken. Here you will change trains, allowing some time to admire the peaks of Eiger, Jungfrau, and Mönch. The train ride now continues along Lake Thun, through the Simmental, over Gstaad and Château d'Oex to Lake Geneva and Montreux. Here, your bus will be waiting to take you to your hotel in Martigny.

Day 3 | Train Journey: Martigny – Le Châtelard – Chambéry (approx. 250 km)

From Martigny, enjoy a wonderful train ride with the Mont-Blanc Express past roaring waters and deep gorges to the French border at Le Châtelard (about one hour). Afterwards, continue by your own bus to Chamonix. In the mountaineering metropolis, you will have time for your own activities, such as an extensive stroll through the town with views of the breathtaking Mont-Blanc massif, or if the weather is nice, a ride on the cable car to the 3,800 m high station of the Aiguille du Midi. After an appropriate stay, you will continue to Chambéry, your next overnight stop.

Day 4 | Grenoble – Gap (approx. 145 km)

After breakfast, you will first drive to Grenoble. From the city center, you can take the cable car to the "Fort de la Bastille," a former fortress carved into the rocks. From here, enjoy a fantastic view of the city. Continue through the beautiful landscapes of the Southern Alps along parts of the Route Napoléon over La Mure to Gap, where you will spend the night.

Day 5 | Gap – Annot – Nice – Flower Riviera (approx. 400 km)

Heading south, the landscape becomes more charming, and you will continue on the "Route Napoléon." From Sisteron, the "Gateway to Provence," you will go to Digne-les-Bains and Annot. From here, continue your journey with the "Pine Cone Train," a highlight of this trip. The unique route leads over viaducts and through tunnels in about 2 hours to Nice. In the metropolis of the Côte d’Azur, you will switch to the bus that will take you to your hotel on the Flower Riviera, where you will stay for the next two days.

Day 6 | Free Time

Enjoy a free day in Diano Marina. Stroll along the palm-lined promenade, explore the center, or spend relaxing hours by the sea.

Day 7 | Return Journey

After breakfast, begin your journey home.
