Travel Itinerary

Day 1 | Arrival in Kiel – Embarkation
(approx. 689 km)

Departure in the morning and drive to Kiel for embarkation on DFDS Seaways and crossing to Klaipeda. Dinner and overnight on board.

Day 2 | Arrival in Klaipeda (approx. 4.7 km)

In the evening, you will arrive in Klaipeda, where your tour guide will already be waiting for you at the port. Transfer to the 4-star Mercure Klaipeda City Hotel and dinner (local category).

Day 3 | Klaipeda – Curonian Spit
(approx. 100 km)

After breakfast, you will explore Klaipeda. The city stretches along the Curonian Spit and has a turbulent and fateful history spanning 700 years. The old town lies on the left bank of the Dane River, characterized by simple half-timbered houses and warehouses. Unfortunately, many buildings were destroyed by numerous fires, but the medieval, chessboard-like street system is still recognizable today. The old street names reveal who once lived there: Fisherman, Smith, Baker, or Shoemaker Street. In the restored Theater Square stands the monument to Simon Dach, the author of the poem “Das Ännchen von Tharau.” Afterwards, you will take an excursion to the Curonian Spit. This unique peninsula between the Baltic Sea and the Curonian Lagoon is home to elk and the realm of shifting dunes and forests. The dry lake sand accumulated and formed sandbanks up to 60 m high, the dunes. Nida, charming and still quiet compared to other seaside resorts, is the epitome and heart of the Curonian Spit. Here, a number of picturesque wooden houses have been preserved, typical of the spit and the entire Memel region. The beautiful nature attracted many artists to Nida. Among the most prominent visitors was the writer Thomas Mann, whose summer house is now a museum. You will return to your hotel for dinner.

Day 4 | Klaipeda – Hill of Crosses – Riga
(approx. 330 km)

After breakfast, you will continue your journey towards Riga. On the way, you will visit the Hill of Crosses in Siauliai, one of the holiest places in Catholic Lithuania. People from all over the world pilgrimage to the hill with thousands of crosses. In the evening, you will arrive in Riga. In the Middle Ages, Riga was an important port city and belonged to the Hanseatic League, which connected merchants from the Baltic region and northern Germany. The buildings of the Great and Small Guild still remind us of the Hanseatic period. In the heart of Riga, you will find the 4-star Tallink Hotel (local category). Dinner and overnight stay.

Day 5 | Riga (approx. 30 km)

Breakfast at the hotel. Riga, once a trading place of the Hanseatic League, is a vibrant, very Western-looking metropolis. During the city tour, you will get to know the main sights – the old town with its winding alleys, the Town Hall Square with the Town Hall and the House of the Blackheads, and the Dome Cathedral. Of course, a visit to the Art Nouveau district in the New Town is a must. Wherever you look – filigree faces, animals, flowers, and lush ornaments. You will return to your hotel for dinner. Overnight stay.

Day 6 | Riga – Pärnu – Tallinn (approx. 320 km)

After breakfast, you will continue your journey towards Tallinn. In Pärnu, a charming harbor town also known as the “Summer City of Estonia,” you will make a stop. The spa and resort town is located in one of the warmest regions of Estonia with the most sunshine hours per year. During the visit, you will come across beautiful old wooden villas and Art Nouveau buildings. A special Art Nouveau building is the Ammende Villa, which houses a hotel with a café and restaurant. Afterwards, you will continue your journey to Tallinn. Since the declaration of independence in 1991, the Estonian capital has rapidly developed into a dynamic and stylish metropolis where the Middle Ages meet modernity. On one hand, the UNESCO-protected old town, medieval church towers and city walls, gabled guild houses, and cobblestone streets. On the other hand, the Rotermann Quarter, located on the edge of the old town and near the harbor, with its restored brick houses and production sites that now house trendy restaurants, boutiques, and galleries. Check-in at the 4-star Park Inn by Radisson Central Hotel in Tallinn and dinner. Overnight stay.

Day 7 | Tallinn (approx. 30 km)

After breakfast, the main sights of the medieval Hanseatic old town are on your agenda. Anyone entering the old town of Tallinn must still pass through one of the numerous city gates today. It is the contrasts of medieval charm and simultaneously cutting-edge modernity that characterize this city. A ring of shady parks and green spaces, which was created in place of the former ramparts and walls, surrounds the historic center. In the Town Hall Square, you will see the Town Hall with the city's landmark, the weather vane. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel in Tallinn.

Day 8 | Tallinn – Helsinki (approx. 40 km)

In the morning, you will say goodbye to your tour guide. With the Tallink Silja fast ferry, you will reach Helsinki. During a city tour, you will see the main sights: Senate Square with the Cathedral, the monument to Tsar Alexander II, the university, the Government Palace, the Rock Church, and the Sibelius Monument (outside visits). Afterwards, check-in at the 4-star Sokos Presidentti Hotel in Helsinki (local category) and dinner.
