Island magic at the North Sea

Husum - Sylt - Amrum

Sometimes it comes from behind, sometimes from the side, but mostly from the front: the famous North German wind. Above are the clouds, below the mudflats, and in the air, this taste of salt, vastness, infinity. Enjoy carefree holiday days in the port city of Husum, right at the gates of the unique UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site Wadden Sea. Here you can experience the spectacle of ebb and flow up close. But it's not just that which makes Husum so special.

Itinerary

Day 1 | Arrival in Husum

Departure in the morning and drive to Husum. In the late afternoon, you will be warmly welcomed at the hotel in Husum.

Day 2 | Husum – Eiderstedt Peninsula – St. Peter Ording

After a cozy breakfast, you will discover your holiday destination Husum – the “gray city by the sea” – on a guided tour. Experience the incomparable charm of the Theodor Storm city and see the old merchant houses with their impressive gable fronts as well as the marketplace, the center of Husum. In the afternoon, you will take an excursion to the Eiderstedt Peninsula with the North Sea resort of St. Peter-Ording. You have the opportunity for a walk along the beach (entrance payable on site) or to enjoy a cozy coffee break.

Day 3 | Island of Sylt

Today you will take an excursion to the holiday island of Sylt. By bus, you will first reach Havneby. From here, you will take the car ferry to the island of the rich and beautiful. Fine sandy beaches, rough surf on the west side, and a tranquil Wadden Sea in the east. Pristine dunes and green dikes, blooming heath, and majestic cliffs. During an interesting island tour, you will see the most beautiful spots on the island. Afterwards, you should take the time for a little stroll through the fashionable Westerland or enjoy the wonderful North Sea air on a beach walk (entrance payable on site). In the afternoon, you will return to Husum by car train.

Day 4 | Free Time – Husum Port Days

Today is all yours! Walk in the footsteps of Theodor Storm or enjoy the healthy North Sea climate on the dike. At the North Frisian Maritime Museum, right by the Husum harbor, you will learn more about maritime history, seafaring, and shipbuilding in an extensive exhibition. A detour to the outer harbor, where you can admire crab fishing boats and merchant ships, is also part of a harbor excursion in Husum. The inner harbor is a wonderful place to stroll and watch. Perhaps you will simply enjoy a crab sandwich or Frisian cake in a cozy café or a rustic harbor pub. Visit the largest city event of the year - the Husum Port Days.

Day 5 | Island of Amrum

Your excursion today takes you to the island of Amrum, the “small island of great freedom,” in the Wadden Sea. Our bus will take you to Nordstrand. From here, it’s “anchors aweigh” as you pass six Halligen and two islands to Amrum. You will explore the island with the “Amrum Island Railway.” In the Frisian village of Nebel, you will make a stop and have the opportunity for an individual lunch break or to visit St. Clemens Church with its sailors' cemetery and its “speaking stones” as well as the Frisian Museum. Nebel unfolds its charm with thatched-roof houses, enchanted alleys, and striking historical buildings. Cafés and small shops contribute to the cozy atmosphere. To conclude, you will visit Wittdün – here it is rarely more than a few steps to the water. Enjoy the view of the Wadden Sea and stroll along the promenade that runs along the water's edge around the southern tip of the island. In the afternoon, you will return by ship to Dagebüll. Here, our coach will be waiting for you to take you back to the hotel.
