Discover Madeira

Madeira is located southwest of Portugal in the middle of the Atlantic and is a small island. However, it is rich in attractions: tropical floral splendor all year round, a breathtaking landscape full of contrasts, and a mild climate with spring-like temperatures.

Day 1 | Flight to Funchal

Flight from Frankfurt/Main to Funchal. Your tour guide will meet you at the airport for the transfer to your hotel.

Day 2 | Funchal and Botanical Garden

During an interesting city tour in Funchal, you will visit the market hall with its fruit, vegetable, flower, and fish stalls. The highlight of the day is the visit to the colorful Botanical Garden, which is home to approximately 2,000 exotic plants.

Day 3 | West Coast

The fishing village of Câmara de Lobos is the first stop on your tour along the western route. Following the coastline, you will reach Ribeira Brava, a charming fishing town. The drive takes you along the southern coast through Ponta do Sol and Madalena, continuing to Porto Moniz, the most important port on Madeira's north coast. Drive along the coastal road over the 1,000 m high Encumeada Pass. Enjoy the spectacular mountain panorama. Afterwards, you will embark on an easy Levada hike along an artfully designed watercourse.

Day 4 | At leisure

You can spend today according to your wishes.

Day 5 | Monte & Nonnental (optional)

You will travel to the significant pilgrimage site of Monte, featuring the Baroque church from the 18th century. The place is world-famous for its traditional wicker toboggans. Through the dense eucalyptus forest, you will continue to Eira do Serrado, a viewpoint at 1,094 m with panoramic views of the Nonnental and the village of Curral das Freiras. At the foot of the mountain, you will taste the traditional cherry liqueur with honey cake.

Day 6 | East Coast (optional)

After breakfast, you will travel to Pico Arieiro, the second-highest mountain at 1,810 m and one of the best viewpoints on Madeira. Here is the island's meteorological station. Near the village of Ribeiro Frio, you will take an easy hike (about 1 hour). Continue to Santana, known for its brightly painted houses and flower-adorned streets, making it one of the most beautiful places on Madeira. Afterwards, you will reach Porto da Cruz and visit a sugar cane mill with rum tasting. Over the Portela Pass and with a stop at the viewpoint Pico do Facho, you will finally head to Machico, the second-largest city and former second capital of the island.

Day 7 | At leisure

Enjoy your last vacation day in Madeira.

Day 8 | Adeus! – Return flight to Frankfurt/Main

Transfer to Funchal airport and return flight to Frankfurt/Main.
