Day 4 | Wild Southwest

Today, an exciting excursion awaits you through the impressive natural and cultural landscape of Mauritius. After breakfast, your discovery tour begins with a drive to the famous Trou aux Cerfs, an extinct volcano in the heart of the island. From the crater rim, you can enjoy a spectacular 360° panoramic view over the green mountain landscape, small villages, and the vast plains of Mauritius. The route then continues to the sacred crater lake Grand Bassin (also known as Ganga Talao), one of the most important pilgrimage sites for Hindus in the Indian Ocean. In a peaceful and spiritual atmosphere, you will discover magnificent temples, colorful shrines, and imposing statues of Hindu deities. The place offers a fascinating insight into the cultural and religious diversity of the island. Continuing through the lush tropical landscape to Chamarel, you will visit the famous Rhumerie de Chamarel along the way, where you can learn more about traditional rum production and taste various Mauritian rums. In the village of Chamarel, one of the island's most famous natural wonders awaits you: the fascinating Seven Colored Earth with its unique, colorful shimmering sand dunes. Also impressive is the nearby Chamarel waterfall, which spectacularly cascades into the tropical gorge and is surrounded by dense vegetation. After a day full of nature, culture, and stunning landscapes, you will return to your hotel in the evening.

Day 5 | Leisure Time

Day 6 | Catamaran Cruise along the West Coast

Your journey begins in Port Louis, the vibrant capital of the island, which became the administrative center and an important trading port between Europe and Asia under French rule in the 17th century. Even today, you can feel the special charm of bygone times here. A walk through the city reveals numerous cultural and historical treasures. A special highlight is the visit to the famous Central Market – a true feast for the senses. Amidst exotic spices, tropical fruits, and local specialties, you will experience the authentic scents and colors of Mauritius up close. Next, you will visit the renowned Blue Penny Museum, dedicated entirely to the island's history and cultural heritage. Admire valuable collections and the world-famous “Post Office” stamps, which are among the rarest in the world. The museum offers a fascinating insight into the diversity and richness of Mauritian history. To conclude the day, you will visit the impressive SSR Botanical Garden of Pamplemousses, the oldest botanical garden in the southern hemisphere. On an area of 37 hectares, you will discover rare tropical plants, majestic trees, medicinal and spice plants, as well as the famous giant water lilies.
