Itinerary

Day 1 | Arrival

Departure in the early morning heading south. Room allocation and dinner at the hotel.

Day 2 | Gulf of Baveno – Lake Mergozzo

Today you start directly from the hotel and cycle on the new bike path along Lake Maggiore, connecting the towns of Baveno and Verbania. Along the way, you will enjoy wonderful panoramic views of the Borromean Islands and the impressive mountain backdrop of the surroundings. The route continues to the idyllic Lake Mergozzo, one of the cleanest and clearest lakes in Italy. Nestled in the picturesque landscape of the Ossola Valley, it is considered a true insider tip and delights with its crystal-clear water. In Mergozzo, you take a relaxed break. Stroll along the picturesque lakeside promenade and enjoy the special Italian atmosphere. Afterwards, you cycle back to the hotel.

Day 3 | Lake Orta

The starting point of today's excursion is the charming town of Omegna at the northern end of Lake Orta. At the beginning, the route leads slightly uphill above the lake and rewards you with magnificent panoramic views of the sparkling water and the surrounding mountains. Then you cycle leisurely along the western shore of the lake. Time and again, dreamy viewpoints invite you to take small photo stops, where you can capture the picturesque backdrop. The destination of the excursion is the romantic little town of Orta San Giulio, which enchants with its historical charm. During a walk through the old marketplace and the winding medieval alleys, you will experience pure Italian flair. Afterwards, return to Omegna, where your bus is already waiting for your journey home.

Day 4 | Ossola Valley

Along the Toce River, you cycle on well-developed paths through a region full of history and original charm. A first highlight awaits you in Vogogna. The picturesque townscape is characterized by the imposing castle of the Visconti family and the historic Praetorian Palace. The route then continues to Domodossola. The charming old town delights with its historic buildings and elegant arcades, which tell of the long history of the region. To conclude, a special culinary highlight awaits you in the small stone village of Oira. At the Garrone family, you will visit a traditional winery and a cheese factory and learn about the production of regional specialties.

Day 5 | In the footsteps of Leonardo: the Naviglio Grande and the Abbey of Morimondo

The starting point of today's excursion is Sesto Calende, from where you cycle along the historic Naviglio Grande. The canal was once built to transport precious marble for the construction of the Milan Cathedral to Milan and is still one of the most important waterways in Northern Italy. The route leads through the idyllic Ticino Regional Park, passing charming towns and small villages. Time and again, you pass historic bridges and lock facilities, whose construction goes back to the ideas of Leonardo da Vinci. From Abbiategrasso, you follow the quieter and lesser-known Naviglio di Bereguardo. The ride through the peaceful landscape ends at the impressive Abbey of Morimondo from the 12th century, a historic Cistercian abbey.

Day 6 | Return journey

After breakfast, departure for the journey home.
