North Sea air and Baltic Sea beach

In the land between the seas, located north of the Elbe and south of Scandinavia, you can enjoy the Nordic freshness and nature and experience the vibrant culture. The sea or lakes are always nearby, along with beaches as far as the eye can see. Large and small cities with a rich history are spread throughout the country.

Day 1 | Arrival

Departure in the morning and drive towards Schleswig-Holstein. Check-in and dinner at the hotel in Groß Wittensee.

Day 2 | Schleswig, the Cathedral and the Holm

Your day trip today takes you along the border between hilly land and geest to Schleswig. In Schleswig, you have the opportunity to visit the oldest sacred building, the Cathedral of St. Peter. After a walk through the old town area to the original settlement area of the Schleswig fishermen, the “Schleswiger Holm”, you have earned a little break. Well-rested, you will drive along the northern side of the Schlei through the cultural region of Angeln along the Schleidörferstraße. In the area between Schleswig, the peninsula of Schwanden, and the landscape of Angeln, you are in close proximity to the filming locations of the ZDF series “Der Landarzt”. In Kappeln, take your time to explore the maritime flair and the beautiful old town at your own pace.

Day 3 | Flensburg and Glücksburg

Through the picturesque landscape of the Hüttener Berge Nature Park, you will reach the Danish border at Kruså and lead you via Rinkenäs to the “Danish Riviera”. From here, you can enjoy the view over the Flensburg Fjord to Glücksburg. From the north, you will then reach Flensburg. Scandinavian flair, quaint alleys, the small idyllic harbor, and surrounding beach oases will surely enchant you. In the afternoon, you will take a boat trip across the Flensburg Fjord to Glücksburg. The return trip to the hotel takes you past the water castle Glücksburg.

Day 4 | Husum

Today you will travel to the “Storm City” of Husum and discover the beautiful old town, the Storm House, and the Castle of Husum (external visits) while enjoying the maritime flair at the Husum harbor. In the afternoon, you will continue north, over the dam built in 1936, to the island of Nordstrand. Once you reach the west coast, you will take a walk along the dike in fresh North Sea air and then have the opportunity to enjoy coffee in a café with a beautiful view of the North Sea.

Day 5 | Free Time

Today is entirely yours.

Day 6 | Holstein Switzerland

Drive to the state capital Kiel. Along the Kiel Fjord, you will travel on one of the most beautiful routes through the state capital. Afterwards, you will reach the heart of Holstein Switzerland via Preetz and Plön. During a 5-lake boat trip, you will get to know the diversity of Holstein Switzerland from a completely different perspective. Upon arriving in Bad Malente Gremsmühlen, you will continue by bus to Eutin. Here you will have the opportunity for a small lunch break. The return trip to the hotel takes you along the beautiful and expansive estate of Gute Pankers and the Selenter See.

Day 7 | North-East Sea Canal

Via Eckernförde and along the Aschberg, you will drive through the geest to the North-East Sea Canal, to experience the most trafficked artificial waterway in the world along a road that runs directly along the canal. You will take a break under the railway viaduct in Rendsburg to admire this impressive structure. Afterwards, you will pass through the center of Rendsburg and through the eastern hilly landscape back to Groß Wittensee. The remaining time until dinner is at your leisure.
