Travel Itinerary

Day 1 | Arrival in South Tyrol

Departure in the morning to South Tyrol. You are welcomed with a welcome schnapps at the family-run hotel.

Day 2 | Merano and Trauttmansdorff Castle

The long tradition as a spa town has left its mark in Merano. You have time to explore at your leisure. In the afternoon, you will visit the gardens of Trauttmansdorff Castle, a true paradise for garden lovers.

Day 3 | Lake Pragser Wildsee

Lake Pragser Wildsee, also known as the “Pearl of the Dolomite Lakes,” is located in the eponymous Pragser Valley. The unique location, amidst the Pragser Dolomites and in the northern part of the Fanes-Sennes-Prags Nature Park, characterizes this emerald green lake. There is the possibility of a beautiful boat ride or an individual walk around the lake. Afterwards, you will continue to Dietenheim to the South Tyrolean Museum of Ethnography. This unique museum showcases the way of life of the rural population of the past – from the land nobility to self-sufficient farmers to day laborers. The open-air area with old, original farmhouses, craft workshops, vegetable gardens, and farm animals invites you to linger and tells stories of everyday life in earlier times.

Day 4 | Dolomites Tour – Sella Ronda

The Dolomites are among the most beautiful and sought-after mountain regions in the world. The drive takes you through the Puster Valley to St. Lorenzen. From there, you will continue through the beautiful Gadertal over the Campolongo Pass to Pordojoch and further over the Sella Pass into the Gröden Valley, the home of the world-famous Luis Trenker.

Day 5 | Bolzano – Lake Caldaro – Mendel

In the morning, you will visit the South Tyrolean capital Bolzano. After a guided city tour, you will have some free time. Perhaps you will visit the Archaeological Museum with the famous Ötzi, the 5,400-year-old mummy? Afterwards, you will continue along the Wine Road to Lake Caldaro, the warmest bathing lake in the Alps. You can expect a Mediterranean lifestyle and an unforgettable landscape. Vineyards stretch as far as the eye can see. Cypress, laurel, and olive trees complete the picture. Historical manor houses in the Überetsch architectural style shape the village image. Typical details reveal the southern architecture. You will take the funicular from Caldaro to the Mendel Pass. Here you will have time to enjoy the magnificent view of the eastern Dolomites and the Brenta group in the west, Ortler, and the Passeier Alps. To conclude the day, you will visit a rustic mountain farm. End the day with a hearty meal.

Day 6 | Brixen – Neustift Monastery

After breakfast, you will travel to nearby Brixen. You will be delighted by the almost unchanged medieval townscape, the magnificent cathedral with its cloister, or the baroque palace. After an individual sightseeing visit, you will continue to Neustift Monastery, one of the largest and culturally significant monasteries in the Alpine region. Return to the hotel and dinner.

Day 7 | Leisure Day

After a leisurely breakfast, you will take a small apple hike with the hotelier. The rest of the day is at your leisure in Natz. With the guest card, you can use all public transport for free and participate in the weekly program of the Natz-Schabs tourism association.
