Travel Itinerary
Day 1 | Arrival Kleinwalsertal
Departure in the morning and drive to Kleinwalsertal. You will be warmly welcomed at the IFA Hotel Alpenrose. Room allocation and dinner.
Day 2 | Kleinwalsertal – Breitachklamm
Well fortified from the rich breakfast buffet, you will start today on a half-day trip through Kleinwalsertal to Breitachklamm, the deepest rock gorge in Central Europe. It is one of the most impressive geotopes in Bavaria! It is also one of the most popular attractions in the Allgäu and stretches from Oberstdorf Tiefenbach to the neighboring Kleinwalsertal. You will walk through the gorge in about 1 hour each way – please remember to wear suitable footwear! You will return to your hotel for dinner.
Day 3 | Allgäu Alps – Around the
Widderstein
Today you will explore the region around the 2,533 m high Widderstein in the Allgäu Alps with a knowledgeable tour guide. You will drive over the Riedberg Pass (1,420 m), the highest drivable mountain pass in Germany, and the Hochtannberg Pass (1,676 m), through the wild romantic Tyrolean Lechtal, reaching the Gaicht Pass. The historically significant Kleinwalsertal Pass road will take you through the lovely Tannheim Valley to the Joch Pass (1,100 m). After this last effort, your journey will take you through the Ostrachtal, which was praised by the Bavarian Prince Regent Luitpold, back to the hotel. Dinner at the hotel.
Day 4 | Free Time
The day is yours to spend as you wish. With the “Mountain Railway Ticket,” you have the opportunity to use the mountain railways, lifts, and the Walserbus throughout Kleinwalsertal free of charge. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 5 | Grand Alpine Tour
A knowledgeable tour guide awaits you today for the “Grand Alpine Tour.” You will reach Schongau via Kempten, where you will see the world-famous pilgrimage church “die Wies,” one of the most beautiful Rococo churches in Southern Germany. The journey continues to Oberammergau to the Benedictine Abbey of Kloster Ettal and to Linderhof Palace (outside visit): The only completed palace of King Ludwig II, relatively small but all the more magnificent. In the middle of the mountains, you will be surprised by the turquoise waters of Lake Plansee before heading back to Kleinwalsertal via Reutte/Tyrol and through the magnificent Tannheim Valley. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 6 | Kempten
Today you will take an excursion to the former Roman city of Kempten. You can still clearly feel the Roman settlement in Kempten today. Embark on a journey through the eventful history of the former twin city. Entertaining, engaging, and informative, the history of Kempten will be presented to you during a city tour. Afterwards, you will have some free time. The pedestrian zone in Kempten is one of the longest in all of Swabia and the popular heart of the city. A variety of restaurants, cafés, and places to stop invite you to linger. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 7 | Free Time
The day is once again entirely yours. Dinner at the hotel.
Day 8 | Return Journey
With many beautiful impressions in your travel luggage, you will begin your journey home after breakfast.

The comfortable 3-star IFA Alpenrose Hotel is centrally located at the entrance of Mittelberg, just a few hundred meters from the chairlift and the Walmendinger Hornbahn. The hotel features a restaurant, bar, terrace, wellness area, swimming pool, fitness center, and a garden. The rooms are equipped with a shower and toilet, hairdryer, TV, and safe.
