Fortress Spell on Bourtange

1. Day | Dortmund – Arrival

Departure in the morning and drive first to Dortmund to visit the classic Christmas market in the Ruhr area. Stroll past over 250 stalls with handicrafts, Christmas decorations, and much more, and admire the largest Christmas tree in the world at Hansaplatz. In the afternoon, continue to Papenburg to check into the hotel. Room allocation and dinner.

2. Day | Panoramic Drive through the Emsland

After breakfast, you will start a panoramic drive through the region. First, you will get to know Papenburg a little better, the oldest and longest peat colony in Germany. The town enchants with its idyllic canals, historic drawbridges, and maritime flair. Then continue to Sögel with the impressive Clemenswerth Castle – a baroque castle complex in a rare star shape. After a short walk through the park, continue to the wind and water mill in Hüven, a technical monument and a rarity in Europe.

3. Day | Christmas Market Fortress

Bourtange – Return Journey

After breakfast, you will leave Papenburg and drive to the Netherlands to visit the Christmas market in the fortress of Bourtange – a magical Christmas experience. You can expect a unique Christmas market in the historic fortress with charming stalls and a wonderful Christmas atmosphere. Enjoy the dreamlike ambiance before you start your journey home.
