Hiking between Bodden and Baltic Sea

Look forward to Germany's most beautiful peninsula, Fischland-Darß, located between Rostock and Stralsund. It is characterized by old farms and cottages, as well as historic captain's houses from the era of the great sailing ships. In autumn, thousands of cranes make a stopover in the National Park 'Vorpommersche Boddenlandschaft' on their way south. With the onset of dusk, they return from their feeding grounds to their sleeping places and announce themselves from afar with their trumpet calls – unforgettable and impressive! Enjoy beautiful hikes through beach and dune landscapes, wide meadows, and along the Bodden coasts, and observe the magnificent cranes up close.

Day 1 | Arrival

Departure in the morning and travel to the Baltic Sea resort of Dierhagen. Upon arrival, you will check into your rooms. After dinner, a walk to the nearby sea is recommended – with a bit of luck, you may already spot some cranes.

Day 2 | Prerow and the Darß

Travel via Born and Wieck to Prerow. You will receive interesting information about the two Darß towns. Look forward to thatched houses and colorful, artistically carved Darß front doors. Upon arriving in the Baltic Sea town of Prerow, you will first take a short tour before setting off on a hike. The route leads through the original coastal forest along varied paths, past pines, beeches, and moss-covered forest areas. Finally, you will reach the Darßer Ort lighthouse, which is picturesque between the forest and the Baltic Sea. Afterward, return to the hotel.

Day 3 | Bodden, Forest & Natural Treasures

You start directly at the hotel and first hike over Dierhagen Beach to Dierhagen Village. From here, the path leads along the Saaler Bodden through the idyllic district of Dändorf with its historic salt harbor. Then, you will go through the varied landscape with meadows and forests towards Neuheide. There, you will visit the Nature Treasury with Paradise Garden and discover a fascinating collection of special natural treasures as well as the lovingly designed garden. You will continue hiking to the Amber Lake in Körkwitz, which is located in the midst of the charming landscape. From here, you will take a bus back to the hotel.

Day 4 | Baltic Sea and Bodden Coast

Today, you will explore the landscape of Fischland. Travel to Wustrow and hike along the steep coast to Ahrenshoop and over the Bakelberg, which at 18 m is the highest elevation of Fischland. Beautiful views of the Baltic Sea open up repeatedly. After a stop in Ahrenshoop, the return path leads along the Bodden side back to Wustrow. A cozy Bodden boat tour awaits you. From the water, you will experience the tranquil Bodden landscape with reed belts and river meadows from a new perspective. Afterward, return to the hotel.

Day 5 | Rostock

After breakfast, you will travel to the Hanseatic city of Rostock. During a tour of the Hanseatic and university city, you will follow the traces of over 800 years of city history. During the tour, you will learn about important buildings, streets, squares, and interesting anecdotes about the city. There will be plenty of free time before returning to the hotel.

Day 6 | Return Journey

After breakfast, the return journey will take place.
