Itinerary

Day 1 | Passau – Embarkation

Departure in the morning and drive to Passau for embarkation. After you have settled into your cabins, the ship will depart in the afternoon towards Regensburg.

Day 2 | Regensburg

Today, experience unforgettable historical and culinary moments in Regensburg, a city with over 2,000 years of history. The old town, with its narrow streets, the imposing cathedral, and numerous sights, offers an impressive panorama. Your excursion starts at the ship, where you will meet your city guide. You will discover the UNESCO World Heritage site of Regensburg and learn more about the most important sights and the city's eventful history. A special highlight is the visit to the historic Wurstkuchl, which has been located on the banks of the Danube for over 500 years. Here, stonemasons, dock workers, and boatmen once replenished their strength – many traditions have been preserved to this day. Enjoy homemade sausages made from pure pork and the famous Wurstkuchl mustard, following the original recipe by Elsa Schricker. This excursion combines history and culinary delights into an unforgettable experience.

Day 3 | Nuremberg

In the morning, enjoy the passing landscape from the deck. In the afternoon, look forward to a tour through the former imperial city of Nuremberg. From the ship, you will travel by comfortable bus to historic sites such as the Zeppelin Field, through suburbs and historical parts of the city. Your walking tour will start at the Imperial Castle, leading down to the city center. Along the way, you will pass significant sights such as the castle terrace, the Albrecht Dürer House, St. Sebald Church, and the old town hall, before making a stop at the marketplace. Afterwards, you will have free time before returning to the ship.

Day 4 | Bamberg

Upon your arrival at the port of Bamberg on the Main-Danube Canal, you will continue by bus to the city's concert hall. This striking modern building, home to the Bamberg Symphony – Bavarian State Philharmonic, serves as the starting point for your guided city tour. From here, the excursion will take place exclusively on foot. You will visit the Bamberg Cathedral, dedicated to Saints Peter and George. With its four imposing towers, this Romanesque church is an impressive sight. If circumstances allow, a visit to the interior is also planned. Around the cathedral square, you will discover a variety of architectural styles and historical buildings. Highlights include the historic complex of the Old Court and the magnificent New Residence from the 17th century with its lovingly designed rose garden – just two of the many sights in this part of Bamberg's old town. Afterwards, your path will lead down to the Old Town Hall, one of Bamberg's most famous landmarks, which was impressively built in the middle of the Regnitz River. The tour ends in the city center, where you are ideally located to further explore this UNESCO World Heritage site on your own.

Day 5 | Würzburg

The journey to Würzburg takes you through the gentle vineyards of Franconia – a picturesque place on the banks of the Main, harmoniously combining history, art, and wine. At the heart of the city stands the Residence with its splendid gardens and impressive Baroque facade. The Old Main Bridge offers unique views of the Marienberg Fortress, and as you stroll through the old town, you will encounter half-timbered houses, cozy wine taverns, and vibrant marketplaces. Würzburg is considered the gateway to Franconian wine, with its cellars and vineyards beautifully complementing the region. Discover a compact city that makes culture, culinary delights, and nature immediately tangible.

Day 6 | Wertheim

A hidden gem is Wertheim, with its romantic old town, winding half-timbered houses, and the imposing castle ruins high above the Main. After your arrival in Wertheim, the classic city tour begins through this charming town, which is picturesquely located at the confluence of the Main and Tauber rivers. Let yourself be enchanted by the picturesque alleys lined with charming half-timbered houses and the historic city wall. A highlight of your tour is the lively marketplace, surrounded by historic buildings and serving as the center of urban life for centuries. Important markets and events once took place here, and the atmosphere reflects the rich history of this town. The majestic Wertheim Castle, towering over the town, offers an impressive sight and tells of the city's significance in the Middle Ages. Although it now exists as a ruin, it powerfully conveys the history and might the city once held. In Wertheim, you will also find remarkable buildings such as the collegiate church and the Martin Chapel, which impress with their architecture and history.

Day 7 | Frankfurt

The conclusion is Frankfurt am Main, a city full of contrasts: modern skyscrapers next to traditional neighborhoods, international cuisine next to Hessian coziness. Experience Frankfurt from its typically Hessian side. On a guided tour, you will switch from “Hibbdebach” (this side of the Main) to “Dribbdebach” (the other side of the Main) and gain exciting insights into the history and culture of the Main metropolis. Your walk starts in the old town on the “Hibbdebach” side with views of the sights along the riverbank. Your guide will share lively anecdotes from the city's history. Over the famous Iron Bridge, you will head to Sachsenhausen – the traditional “Dribbdebach.” Here, you will discover the quaint Frankfurt with its cozy apple wine taverns. To conclude, enjoy a glass of the regional cult drink in a typical “Ebbelwoi-Kneipe.” A perfect blend of history, culture, and enjoyment – ideal for experiencing Frankfurt authentically!

Day 8 | Frankfurt

After breakfast, you will begin your journey home.
