Hiking trip in Tuscany

Between the sea and the mountains, you will walk paths through the beautiful landscape of Tuscany. Undisturbed, sparsely populated cypress landscapes convey a sense of vastness, tranquility, and harmony. The moderate hikes will take you over gentle hill ranges, through vineyards and olive groves, to picturesque mountain villages and Etruscan sites.

Day 1 | Overnight Stay

Departure in the morning and drive to the Milan area for an overnight stay.

Day 2 | Arrival in Pescia

After breakfast, you will continue your journey to Tuscany. Dinner and overnight stay at a hotel in Pescia.

Day 3 | In the Hills of Lucca and Collodi

Your hike today begins near the hotel amidst the green hilly landscape of Lucca. The hike takes you through olive groves and vineyards, offering beautiful views and leading to Collodi, the home of Pinocchio. After the hike, the bus will take you to Lucca, where you will have free time.

Day 4 | Volterra

Drive to Volterra. Together with an experienced hiking guide, you will embark on a “city trekking tour.” Traces of the Etruscans and Romans, the cathedral, imposing palaces, and the massive fortress of the Medici shape the image of Volterra. After a short stop, you will hike down from Volterra through the fascinating landscape to the valley, where the bus will be waiting for you to continue to a farm. Here, you will witness truffle hunting with a truffle dog – a tasting is, of course, included. Return to your hotel.

Day 5 | Pisan Mountains

Your hike today begins at the foot of the Pisan Mountains in Santa Maria del Giudice. You will hike up rocky paths, through mixed forests and typical Mediterranean vegetation, and then descend to the well-known spa town of San Giuliano Terme. There, the tour bus will take you on to Pisa. The most impressive square in Pisa is the Square of Miracles, the “Piazza dei Miracoli,” with the Leaning Tower as a free-standing bell tower. You will have free time to explore. Before returning to the hotel, you will make a stop at the Tyrrhenian coast.

Day 6 | In the Footsteps of Leonardo da Vinci

Bus ride to Vinci. The guided hike begins in Vinci and takes you through olive groves past Leonardo's birthplace and further through the lovely Tuscan landscape. After the hike, you will have some free time in Vinci. Return by bus to the hotel.

Day 7 | In the Chianti Wine Region

You will hike through the hilly landscape of the Chianti vineyards, up and down to the main town of Greve in Chianti – nestled in the gentle hills of Tuscany. To conclude, we invite you to a wine tasting of the famous wine in a wine cellar.

Day 8 | Return Journey

After breakfast, you will begin your journey home with many beautiful impressions in your hiking luggage.

To avoid plastic waste, we recommend bringing your own drinking bottles. Northern Tuscany has many natural springs with fresh drinking water. Here you can refill your brought bottles again and again.

The town of Pescia is only about 40 minutes by car from Florence, Pisa, and the Versilia coast. This ancient villa was built at the end of the 16th century by Count Soderini. The villa has since been lovingly renovated with great attention to detail. The hotel features an elevator, a restaurant, a bar, a lounge, free Wi-Fi, and a swimming pool with hydromassage in the park area. The rooms are equipped with a bathtub or shower, toilet, radio, TV, telephone, and air conditioning.
