Embark on promising hikes in alpine pastures and mountains. Summer in Großarl is diverse and varied. Here, you will feel close to heaven during your hikes and mountain tours against the impressive backdrop of the Hohe Tauern. The Großarltal, with its national park community of Hüttschlag and its European village of Großarl, rightfully earns the name Valley of the Alm. For nowhere else in the Salzburg region is there a valley that deserves this title more. There are nearly 40 huts that provide hikers along the approximately 400 km of marked hiking trails with homemade delicacies.

Itinerary
Day 1 | Arrival in Großarl
Departure in the morning and drive to Großarl. You will be warmly welcomed at the hotel. Check-in and dinner.
Day 2 | Aigenalm-Paulhütte
Your hike today starts from the hotel and initially leads flat along the Achen promenade and then through the forest to Aigenalm-Paulhütte. Just before you reach the hut, you will pass the Aigenalm chapel, which is definitely worth a visit. After a personal break at the hut, you will return on foot to your hotel.

Elevation gain: approx. 350 m
Walking time: approx. 4 hours (approx. 12 km)
Day 3 | Alpine tour in Ellmautal
You will take the public bus directly from the hotel to Ellmautal until Grund (approx. 1,300 m). From here, your ascent begins via a path to Filzmoosalm (approx. 1,710 m). After a short break, you will continue uphill via a forest hiking trail to Loosbühelalm (approx. 1,769 m). Here you have the opportunity for a personal stop. Well-rested, you will then head to Weißalm and return via the path back to Grund. You will return to your hotel by public bus.

Day 4 | Summit tour to Penkkopf
After breakfast, you will take the bus to the Breitenebenalm parking lot. From here, your ascent begins over the Breitenebenalm to Großwildalm. After a short break, you will continue uphill to Penkkopf and down to Karseggalm (approx. 1,603 m). Here you will take a longer break and have the opportunity to visit the oldest alpine hut in the valley of the alms. Well-rested, you will then descend back to the Breitenebenalm parking lot.

Walking time: approx. 5 hours (approx. 12 km)
Day 5 | Hubalm
By public bus, you will reach Hüttschlag-Aschau. From here, your hike to Hubalm (approx. 1,311 m) begins with an ascent to Oberneureitbauer and continues via hiking trail and forest road. At Hubalm, you have the opportunity to stop for refreshments. The return is via the Hubalm trail or forest road directly to the village of Hüttschlag. You will return to Großarl to your hotel by public bus.

Day 6 | Return journey
After breakfast, departure for the return journey.

4-Star Hotel Alte Post in Großarl
The 4-star hotel is the best-certified hiking hotel in the area and is located in the center of Großarl, in the heart of Salzburg. The rooms are located in the Toni and Maria houses and feature a bathtub or shower, WC, hairdryer, TV, radio, telephone, and Wi-Fi. The rooms are divided between two buildings – connected by an underground tunnel (about 1 minute walking time between the two buildings). The hotel has a wellness area with a pine spa and indoor pool.
