Travel Itinerary

Day 1 | Arrival in Styria

Departure in the morning and drive to Niklasdorf, where you will be warmly welcomed at the hotel and greeted with a cocktail. After checking into your room, the day can wind down with dinner.

Day 2 | Truly Impressive

The day trip first leads through the Mürztal to Mürzzuschlag. Here you will switch from the bus to the train. The Semmering Railway was the first mountain railway in the world, opened in 1854, and was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1998. The historic railway line leads over large viaducts and through short tunnels to Payerbach-Reichenau, where you will be met by the bus again. The next destination is the pilgrimage site of Maria Schutz. On the return journey, you will pass the largest walkable wooden cross in the world, the impressive earth station in Aflenz, and the Oberkapfenberg Castle before returning to the Murtal and the hotel.

Day 3 | “Baked Apple and Pine Scent”

Through the largest contiguous alpine area in Austria, you will head to the orchards of Styria. In a fruit-growing operation, you will learn interesting facts about fruit cultivation and schnapps production during a guided tour. Afterwards, there will be a tasting of Styrian apples and fine spirits. After a lunch break at a country inn (self-pay), the second destination of the day awaits: the largest contiguous and cultivated alpine area in Europe, the Teichalm-Sommeralm region, covering 3600 hectares.

Day 4 | Trip to Graz – New Year's Eve Night

Today you will head to the state capital Graz. Upon arrival, you will be greeted by an Italian-looking historic city center, which was the splendid seat of the Habsburgs during the Middle Ages and Renaissance. The Schlossberg with its funicular (additional cost) also beckons and offers a magnificent panoramic view. You will have time to stroll and enjoy. You will experience New Year's Eve with a gala dinner in the festively decorated hotel restaurant, with all table drinks included that evening. The dance music ensures lively entertainment. The sausage feast is just one of the cherished traditions after midnight. In the early morning hours, the celebration ends with many good wishes for the coming year.

Day 5 | Leoben and Trabochersee

On New Year's Day, you will take it easy and start only in the late morning. First, you will get to know the city of Leoben, the second-largest city in Styria, on a guided tour. The city has a long tradition in mining and metallurgy. Continue through the wintry landscape to Trabochersee, a mountain lake in a side valley of the Liesingtal. The lake, which is about 7 hectares in size and fed by the Veitscherbach, is mainly used for tourism. You will have the opportunity to stop and relax before heading back to the hotel.

Day 6 | Journey Home

The trip comes to an end... after breakfast, you will begin your journey home with many beautiful memories.
