North Sea – Island of Sylt
Niebüll and the Wadden Sea
The eternal rhythm of ebb and flow defines life on the North Sea coast. The channels shine in the sunlight, the wind brushes through the hair, and one can breathe in the salty air. The combination of this journey is promising and offers an appealing contrast. On one side, a magnificent natural landscape: the tranquil Wadden Sea, the powerful North Sea waves, beach and sea as far as the eye can see. On the other side, Sylt, the island of the 'Beautiful and Rich', chic, exclusive but also idyllic and unspoiled.
Travel Features
Itinerary
Day 1 | Arrival
Arrival by modern coach to Niebüll. Room allocation and dinner at the hotel.
Day 2 | Büsum – St. Peter-Ording
Today you will visit two of the largest seaside resorts on the West Coast, Büsum and St. Peter-Ording. In Büsum, there is plenty of time for an extensive city stroll. The fishing village is diverse, original, and unique! In St. Peter-Ording, enjoy wonderful views of the mudflats, one of the last natural conservation landscapes in the world and vital for the entire sea. You will be thrilled by the panoramic view from the dike over the beach to the North Sea. To conclude the day, visit the Eider Barrage, Germany's largest coastal protection structure. The Eider Barrage connects the district of Dithmarschen with Eiderstedt in North Frisia. If you're lucky, you might see seals in the North Sea or watch a fishing boat setting out to sea. You will return to your hotel for dinner.
Day 3 | Island of Sylt
After breakfast, you will take the train to Germany's probably most famous holiday island, Sylt. Wide beaches, charming dune landscapes, and typical island villages will impress you just as much as Westerland with its upscale shops, restaurants, and promenades. During a small island tour, you will gain various insights into Sylt's island life. There will also be time for a delicious fish sandwich or to enjoy a cup of Frisian tea. By train, over the Hindenburg Dam, you will leave the island and return to your hotel.
Day 4 | Schleswig – Kappeln – Flensburg
Today, you will head to the Baltic Sea coast, first to Schleswig. There, you will visit the magnificent cathedral and the old fishing village of Holm. Continue along the Schlei to Arnis, the smallest town in Germany, and then to Kappeln. You may recognize some places, as the popular series "Der Landarzt" was filmed here. In the afternoon, return to Niebüll with a stop in Flensburg.
Day 5 | Schlüttsiel – Hallig Hooge
In the morning, take a bus ride to nearby Schlüttsiel and a boat trip to Hallig Hooge. In the Schleswig-Holstein Wadden Sea lie the only Halligen in the world. Hooge is the second largest and has a lot to offer. Nowhere is the sea more present; you always face the elements in their unbridled form. Living on the Hallig means, then as now, "living with ebb and flow – experiencing nature in its purest form." You will explore Hallig Hooge on a carriage ride. Notable sights include the Hallig church, Königspesel, the local museum, and the storm surge cinema (Hallig Talers payable on site, approx. 1,– € per person). In the late afternoon, return to Schlüttsiel and from there to Niebüll. Dinner and overnight stay.
Day 6 | Departure
As a farewell, there will be a sparkling wine breakfast today. Afterwards, it's time to load the luggage, and you will begin your journey home.
