Hiking holiday in Chiemgau

The Chiemsee – the “Bavarian Sea” – is the largest lake in Bavaria and lies in a picturesque pre-Alpine setting. The scent of the alpine meadows, the wind rustling through the trees, and the soft grass inviting a short rest, all make hiking in the Chiemgau so special.

Day 1 | Arrival in Inzell

Departure in the morning and drive to Inzell. You will be warmly welcomed at the hotel. Check-in and dinner.

Day 2 | Eggstätter Lake District

Drive to Eggstätt. From here, a gentle path leads through the Eggstätter Lake District on beautiful forest trails and over bridges to the Hartsee-Stüberl, where you have the opportunity to take a break. The return path leads back on lovely forest trails to the starting point. Drive to the hotel and dinner.

Day 3 | Grießenbach Gorge

Bus ride to Kiefersfelden. From here, your hike begins past the largest waterwheel in Bavaria, along the Grießbach to the power station, continuing uphill over about 100 natural steps with fantastic views into the lower Grießbach gorge. Passing the reservoir, you will reach the Schopperalm at about 610 m via beautiful forest paths. After a short ascent through lovely forests and on forest roads, you will return to Kiefersfelden. Dinner at the hotel.

Day 4 | Herren-Alm

From Kraimoos, after a short ascent on a somewhat steeper forest path, you will reach the private upper Lindl-Alm (981 m). This is located at the highest point with a beautiful view of Lake Chiemsee. From here, you will go over roads, meadows, and through the forest to Herren-Alm. After an individual snack, you will return via forest paths, stairs, and bridges to the starting point. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.

Walking time: approx. 5 – 5.5 hours (approx. 7.7 km)

Day 5 | Weitsee (4-Lake Hike)

Today, you can look forward to a beautiful, flat valley hike with a great panorama through the nature reserve. The hike starts in Ruhpolding and you will walk over the Förchensee along the former railway line past the Löden and Mittersee to Weitsee. On the opposite shore of the lakes, you will return on forest paths to the starting point. You will return to your hotel for dinner.

Day 6 | Return Journey

With many new impressions in your travel luggage, you will begin your journey home.
